8) Ok just wondering whether anyone else has gone for max usable power without resorting to the oddball phase kits

Very happy with 117Bhp & 8600redline :twisted:

I've been hunting better fuel economy/performance for a while, & had a V hard look @ the new R12 engine, more Hp slightly lighter bike....

So went back to the drawing board & up spec'd my engine.

Just wondered if anyone else had gone this far or further?

What did you do to get that kind of horsepower from an 1150.

That horspower figure was from one cylinder only!!!!! That's why it managed to hit 8600 rpm.....see.... :lol: :lol:

I once built a revolutionary single cylinder 10 liter displacement wooden engine....it ran very well and polluted little......mileage just kept getting worse. Sold it to Boxer as he intended to rebuild it....haven't heard anything since then...... :lol: :lol:

Hmmmm so only 1 other then....

the figure is from the dyno run....

And for those without a tree fetish... :roll:

New Engine,complete stripdown, balance & blueprint
new billet cams, new profiles, forged pistons, flow & port heads
remap ecu, larger injectors, ceramic clutch......

so pretty much the basics when I used to build race engines 8)

Ahhh so the truth finally comes out........your original post failed to mention any engine rebuild with performance parts.....

BTW, what clued you in, the seriousness of the responses?

Those are wonderfull numbers and you should be proud of them. Why don't you educate the lay users on the board and post the dyno graphs, along with everything that was done to the engine...... 8) 8)

just in the process of moving house, so very up on the air atm

I didn't chronograph what I did, but will organise pic's

I can suggest for the fiscally challenged,
DON'T! unless you have access to a race workshop eg: Nismo in my case

for those that want to play with a limited budget, 11:1 compression & a reasonable cam profile...will take you quite nicely to 95-100hp :idea:

Tuned headers make a decent contribution to hp :wink:

Goto http://www.wunderlich.de It's in German though...
They have lots of addon parts to increase horsepower. Cams, Chip, Exhaust...etc... Seems like they don't have these parts on offer in the States or in Greece.

santa cruz bmw can get you just about any wunderlich part. just download the catalog and order the part # on SC BMW's site. i've only ordered the rockster "trimm" windshield and a couple non-performance parts for my BCR from them. but they have a bunch of performance parts for most beemers. i've been curious to know how well their parts integrate with our bikes. it would be awesome if someone can enlighten us...:wink:

Sorry bout that we've been super busy
development never stops...... ;)

High comp is the easy bit , top end off an RS or RT as they run 11:3-1
the R/GS/Rockster only runs 10:3-1

that'll give you an easy 95hp ..... :twisted:

but if you want to twist the wrist heavily you'll need high lift cams & MOST important titanium push rods

that'll give you a comfort zone of 9000rpm red line 8)

BTW boxermania was right on the money

its a good idea to upgrade the fuel pressure reg, if you're on the hunt for performance
problem these days, is most manufacturers work to the absolute min requirements when chasing profit, so we end up with outcome of cost cutting.......like having a generic ecu with one profile for all the bikes

hello zax1150,

can you give me more info on the fuel pressure regulator?
do you mean installing one from a K12 or R12?
what size does the rockster have and what size would you recommend to give more HP?
would i need to intall larger FI's if replaced the FPR?

boxermania used, that'll do nicely, you can then look @ advancing the timing

hey zax1150,

i tried looking to see which FPR was in question but didn't find it. thanks for clarifying. so the 1150 has a 3.0 bar and the K12 a 3.5 bar regulator, right? can i get away with keeping my injectors? and i assume i'd have to change my mapping on my power commander??

San Jose BMW sells 12:1 pistons for the 1150R... :wink:

very good 3.5 bar makes a large difference kills the surge & supply problem & will keep good pressure @ the injectors when you need it most

it'll allow you a lot of leeway with performance mods

no you don't need to up the injectors unless you're going stage 3 & above
& no to changing your mapping (yet)

if you're going to 12:1 then get the high lift cams to suit...!!
the reason I suggested the RS/RT is you can pick up the parts cheap
& keep fairly bulletproof engine reliability.

although saying that,blueprinting is where I always start with an engine, brings it into spec.

Running 12:1 myself but thats with billet cams for my own profiles, larger sodium valves, flowed & ported the heads, forged pistons larger cap injectors & titanium push rods,


as a bonus you might remember that the ecu can be reprogrammed for 8 different profiles, thats why porsche' luv the motronic's so much :idea:
usually we keep access to the profile controls away from the drivers (they tend to fiddle :lol: )
