Kill Switch, ABS vs non-, Oil, and...
Shower faucets!
Do you use a single faucet to control both hot and cold water or two separate faucets to control each?
Why?
Isn't one approach clearly superior to another? Isn't there a risk of scalding from using the wrong faucet set-up? And shrinkage? How is that reduced or eliminated by one's choice of faucet fabrication?
Seems we have neglected a serious issue here gang.
Your thoughts?

I think Michael has too much free time on his hands, or he's taken leave of his senses.

OK Mike, you asked for it!
One thing I like about using 2 controls is it always works the same GD way!
Every time we are at Motel with a single control I have to spend 15-20 minutes figuring out how to use the darn thing so as not to scald myself and then another 15-20 minutes training my wife so she doesn't do the same. Can the manufacturers of these things come up with some standards?
On a side note - lets talk shower heads! These have become rather complicated too. Though I can usually figure them out in fairly short order. My complaint is with the stupid little plastic water savers they put in that essentially turn the shower head into a shower dribbler there-by increasing the time it take to get the shampoo out of ones hair, causing one to use essentially the same amount of water. (I now carry a small Crescent wrench and Teflon tape in my system case for just such occasions!)

Faucets are a problem. Especially if one person likes the water hotter than the other. I say - multiple shower heads on opposite sides of the shower, with seperate faucets. That way each can control the temperature of the water the way they like it.

Since you mentioned esteemed...
How bout' those fancy steam jet water massage shower stalls that have a computer to control your shower everything???
We were going to get one, but since I work with computers day in and day out, I have developed a fear of having computer controlled anything in my bathroom!

It's part of the joy of learning to live with other people. We have to learn to compromise on some things, and give up control on others. We all love to do that, right?GypsyRR wrote:Faucets are a problem. Regarding shower faucets, I prefer separate hot and cold controls, too. They're usually simpler to install, repair and find parts for.

OK, it's been almost 3 hours and no ones posted the next obvious comment.
So I'll do it, and probably get in trouble for it too!
Add "and the joys of taking showers together" in RD's statement and we've cured the previously mentioned shrinkage problem!
See? we can cure anything as a team!

Yes, but you still have to compromise on the water temperature, or give up control to your spouse. And if you are in an unfamiliar hotel room, and she accidentally makes it too hot ...mad1150 wrote: Add "and the joys of taking showers together" in RD's statement and we've cured the previously mentioned shrinkage problem!

go ahead and call me an un-romantic, but....
"the joys of showering together" are highly over-rated. Is it really sexy to watch the significant other: shave unwanted hair, wash the armpits, shampoo their teeth etc etc????? I say no. And! Water is no helper in the bedroom activity department.
I do shower sometimes with the girlfriend, if only for speed and convienience, economy. Never I repeat never confuse bedroom and bathroom activites.
I like showers with two controls.

I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...

If a woman and a man are right for each other, daily showering together enhances the pairbond experience. Especially if you always shower at day's end. The "all over cleaning" benefits both, becoming appreciative . . . without becoming erotic. Think ThanksGiving and maybe the day after, NOT Christmas morning. We scour/soap each other's backs and I hold her shoulders steady when she soaps her feet, one-at-a-time. There's . . . . more . . . . but . . . . you (hopefully) get the idea. I just figured, "together" ~19.2 years = 7,008 dual showers. That's about a gazillion gallons saved, and many preludes to . . . . . . . . . . a clean good nite's rest. We might have to soon move this topic to the PlayHouse - - - when those kinky young single guys chime in.
For shower faucets:
---Moen's single knob pull-for-flow-&-turn-for-temp is the BEST one. Very easy to learn and you easily have predictable full control. The $14 replaceable valve cartridge lasts 10 years. The Moen brand is more expensive but worth it.
---Delta's turn-for-temp-&-flow is acceptable but you cannot control the hot/warm/cold flow rate.
---Pricefister is cheap junk and to be avoided.
---Newer thermostatic faucets work great, especially when someone flushes the other bathroom's toilet.
