BMW tall touring shield mount

Post by TWI »

How does the tall touring shield mount attach to the bike? Is it a relatively on/off, so if I wanted nothing on during the warm months it isn't a pain to remove?

Two very easily removable screws.

The bottom of the bracket fits into a clip that is above the headlight, but it just slips in. Nothing to remove there unless you do it for looks (and put the blank plate from the factory back where the bracket was.)

Tops - 5 minutes.

That said - save yourself some $$$ - and get the BMW Touring Shield bracket, and order a screen from Cee-Bailey. (I know - I'm killing the resale market on the BMW Touring Shield I have in a box..)

The Cee-Bailey will be 1/2 the price of the BMW article - but it needs the BMW bracket to mount.

BTW - I'm thinking on a new spot fo mount my GPS - involves a slight reversable modification to the touring shield bracket.. gotta get to Home Depot..

So it uses the same holder above the headlamp as the sport screen I have and uses the same bolt holes? Great! Gosh, the mothership charges a lot for a small bit of bent metal.

Well, I'm thinking of the tall version of the CB screen. During warm weather I'd like to have a completely naked bike. This might work.

OK, I bought the bracket this weekend. Next, get a screen.

I'm very pleased with how well designed the attachment points for the windscreen brackets are. It too often seems to be a complete afterthought, or from the pen of style designer.

I wish the same attention had been applied to the seat.
