Just bought an R1150R and it's for sale...

So, February 2003, my buddy and I bought matching R1150R's. Mine black, his silver. I had my oil cooler covers painted first week. Here it is.... https://i.ibb.co/wwHPMpg/DSC01652.jpg So, I rode the snot out of mine. Sold it a few years later with 40k on the odd after multiple Iron Butt rides. My bu...

WHY doesn't BMW sell bikes in the US car dealerships? Seems like the perfect solution to a lot of problems. Just need one "bike guy" per dealership.

I know, I know... "This is how we've always done it...".

3900 at indicated 80 - sounds like you have the a regular .80, 6th - tire wear condition ? Really? But folks above are seeing 69 and 70 mph at 4,000 in sixth... pretty sure I have overdrive if I'm indicating 80mph at 3,900. 4500 for extended periods - abuse to the motor? WHAT? This might be...

I replaced my right control assembly with an R1150GS assembly purchased cheap on eBay. I polished "ABS" off of the ABS switch, put "GRG" there in white transfer lettering, and cleared it with matte clear coat. Then, de-loomed the ABS switch wiring. Shuffled the connector pins so ...

Even with the taller gear, mine still feels like it needs another gear. Yep. I have the "overdrive" and that still means 3,900 RPM at 80mph. Really limits cruising. 4,500 rpm for sustained periods of time just sounds like it would abuse the engine. Interestingly, first gear is too tall. I...

When you say "GS Paralever" do you mean just the torque arm, or the entire unit? Are the swingarms the same length on the GS and R?
Doh, I meant "GS Paralever torque arm".

New user, FIRST POST, and asks about loud pipes as a (LOL!!!) "safety issue"???

I think y'all been played!

I mean... if someone's first post was "Where can I get a leather tassle for my front brake lever? I never use it, it might throw me" would you buy it?

I put the GS paralever on when the bike was new, 27k ago. No ill effects that I've noticed. The few (five?) times I've used the sidestand, it does lean WAY over. It's VERY easy to the bike on and off the center stand now... I can get either tire about 1" off the ground, which is all I need. Hmm...

Agreed.

Our military could have prevailed in Vietnam, rather easily, if they hadn't been allowed. Instead, we surrendered and are indirectly responsible for the murderous decade that followed.

Not very responsible. Sad that many are trying to propagandize our way to surrender again...

Think about it: the R50 will be 50 years old next year and you can still get parts and service through the dealer network. You've got to love a company that provides that level of support for their obsolete products. Huh. Harley has that beat, they'll still sell you an entire obsolete bike! (Sorry,...

I've done a bunch of 700-800 mile days, a 1,000 mile day, and a 1,521 mile day (23 hours, 1 minute) on my R's stock seat. Never noticed it. (The seat, that is). I think the dingle Frantz "Master Yoda Riding Position" makes a big difference. On the 1,500, I made one true blunder. I setup my...

Makes sense... abs can't tell if you're moving forward or backward, only that you are moving.

Anyone try a burnout with the front brake held on an ABS bike? I wonder if it would see the rear turning, front stopped and conclude you were skidding the front...
