That would be pretty hazardous around town. In traffic, I generally shift between 4 and 6k. But really I just go by what feels right. If i'm just cruising along I keep it pretty sedate, but if i'm trying to make a freeway entrance on a short ramp i'll rip it on up to 11k in 2nd (and then I have to s...

Pretty easy, really. They go on outside the bar weights. Use the longer bolts that come with the Napoleans. Don't use the rubber mounts. The tube on the mirror that would go into the rubber mount has to be trimmed. Just use a hacksaw to cut it short enough that it doesn't bottom in the hole in the e...

I believe the dent is to fit the K1200S, which uses the same bags. The rear bodywork on the S is wider.
I too have considered doing some work to the bags to allow me to regain the lost space.

If I haven't asked, i've been meaning to. I think those would look even better on another color. Say...graphite?
Anybody know who makes them?

Aha! I knew there was a picture out there somewhere:

The link I posted earlier was from a US distributor, so shipping shouldn't be too outrageous.

Got my speedo face replaced today. They said they are ordering a new brakeline. They want to check the length against the one on my bike.

Another option:

They are supposed to be releasing this for the K1200R. It looks interesting in black. I think it is somewhere between the standard guage protector and the sport screen in size.

Well, for now they just zip-tied the brakeline back to the upper headlight mount. They are ordering a new speedo face and are going to check on other fixes. You can't just use a shorter line as that would make it too tight when turning the bars to the right. What we found odd was the R they had on t...

I don't see how you could swap the brake and clutch lines. And I am NOT putting electrical tape on my K. But I did find mention on another forum of this issue and it appears there is a fix. I will be talking to my service guy tomorrow.

You suck! I need to get some cool picks of mine. I took the scenic route to San Antonio this weekend, but never found a good place to stop. Actually, I kind of missed a turn and didn't take quite the route I planned, so I think I missed the best views/roads.

Brakeline rubbing speedo?

I have noticed that my front brake line rubs against the face of the speedometer when I turn the bars all the way to the left, as when parking. This has made a small scuff-mark on the face. Has anyone else noticed this? I guess I will be stopping by the dealer some time this week.

I have had several instances now when I shift from 1st to 2nd and started to accellerate and the bike suddenly jumped back to neutral. Rather disconcerting. Does anyone else feel this transmission is notchy? I have ridden other BMWs and they all seem a little "clunky" compared to other bik...

rivi,

That's funny. I was waiting for the color you got when Lonestar got the graphite in and I decided to take it. :D
I think BMW's distribution system leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks! I've always liked the Napoleon mirrors. I had them on a GS500 and my brother had them on his SV650. I think they make the bike look lower and meaner. Plus they give a really good view. I rode with only the left one on the GS500 for a while and it gave a better view than both the stock mirror...

It was my impression that the dealer should match the locks for you. LoneStar does. That's why most of the bikes on the floor with bags don't have locks in the bags yet.

COH, I agree on the sound. It's great. I am interested in a aftermarket exhaust for weight/size reasons, but I don't want to sacrifice the sound quality or level. Which probably means I will stick with the stocker.

When is "shortly"? From where? Grrr.

I would like to see a shortened belly-pan that would work with a centerstand. Also would like to see one on the dark graphite bike. I tried photoshopping it but I got bored/frustrated with photoshop.[/quote]
