Re: Crybabies!

The fellas are right,

While it makes for a fun mental image to silence a kid, one simply does not do that, after all, what does a toddler know except that which he/she has been taught.

I have little by way of ethical problems with smacking the parent, however

Ooh, Finger Lakes

Just the shortest possible post to mention how much I enjoyed my first ever motorcycle rally this past weekend in Watkins Glen. Seeing that many BMW's in one place was really exciting; it was like a BMW banquet. I met quite a few great people, including Daryl from this board, enjoyed the great roads...

Re: orange R1150R

The cost I can't really comment upon. My guy did me a favour and did the paint for a few hundred bucks. I am pretty sure you'd not normally pay that little.

Re: orange R1150R

I like your bike's look Ritchard. The Flying Pumpkin eh.... well named. How does a repaint wear? How long was the bike orange before you repainted it orange again? Did the paint wear well? Is redundancy a good quality? Did the wheels come in black and might they fit an 2008 R1200R? I'm almost sure ...

Re: orange R1150R

The Flying Pumpkin from the thread quoted above is mine. It was painted this brave colour by a previous owner. I repainted it this winter because of a few dings and nicks that I wanted to freshen up. Well, in real fact, I was only going to paint one or two pieces, but by the time I started taking it...

Re: A geezer meets his match

thanks James Lee Burke as you know writes about my neck of the woods and can describe the skies down here better than anyone J I've read every word he has ever published, and could drive around New Iberia without a map after reading so much Dave Robicheaux. I have told Mr Burke how extraordinarily ...

Re: A geezer meets his match

Iowabeakster, The bike was originally the BumbleBee colour scheme. When you have a crazy looking bike like this, and it's painted Orange, everybody wants to chat with you. I bought it a year ago more or less like this. It was a little nicked and scratched, so I had it painted a very slightly differe...

I had almost torn my own head off over this issue this spring. Thanks to this forum, I still have a head.

Thanks again, guys.

A geezer meets his match

A quick trip report. I know this does not match the epic journeys posted here recently, but I had a great time. I took the flying pumpkin out for a little spin commencing on Wed July 29. I traveled by lunchtime Fri July 31 around 2000 km, or 1200 miles over the top of Lake Superior. Overnight stops ...

Re: Cyclerob - Clutch Spline Greasing?

Gents, Is there a source for the rear U joints for the 1150r? My bike has started to feel like maybe it'd like a new one. When turning a left corner at slower speeds with two-up - only intermittently - you get a kind of rumbly vibration in the drive system behind and below me. Today it developed a c...

Re: Leaking Oil Filler Cap

Cleaning part 5 of grit and such, plus replacing o-ring part #6 should go a long way toward alleviating your problem. I found that my 0-ring had become quite deformed when I last replaced it. It was compressed into a wedding band like shape, instead of a nice thick donut shape. Once I had replaced 3...

Re: Ideas to resolve R1150R Issues Needed

There are certainly better mechanics on the board than me, but this sounds to me like the first thing to be done is to get the throttle bodies in sync. It's easy, cheap, and very rewarding.

What was the outcome? I had some slight wobble at rather irresponsible speeds a few weeks ago, was wondering what it was about.

Re: 1400 miles and four states on a bike named Chance

I am afraid I was involved in the test so much that I barely glanced at the pictures, I may have to go back and look at them again. A beautifully written memoir. Describing smells is a challenge, but for me as a reader it always works to situate me in a time and place. In this way your writing remin...

What an adventure. You rock.

And here I was questioning the sanity of riding 2000 km to my brother's wedding.
