Re: '02 RT Opinions

I just traded today . Traded my 1150 R for a 1200 RT. So far as I can tell they are the same bike except for the difference in refinement in a six year newer model. Sure the fairing makes it hotter than my beloved R type but in a couple weeks when fall sets in I will be loving the extra warmth. Driv...

Re: New BMW owner, 2004 1150ra, 25k miles, what to expect?

Howdy new rider. I too am new to the beemer and found a low mile 02 model a few months ago and I've put over 6000 brutal mountain twisties miles on mine before I even heard of the failure problem on some bikes. I was alset to throw down on a new 1200 when it dawned on me, these bikes are not all lem...

Re: Clutch spline failures - Let's get serious

Stixx, I see your point, but remember there were several instances requiring repair in the the first series, Long Way Round. In at least one instance they had to weld up a cracked frame. Also, they would have little incentive to highlight the mechanical foibles of the bikes, should they occur. The ...

Re: Observations on new tires

Hello, newbee here ! I too have the R 1150 R ( 2002 ) which has the Bridgstones on and they seem to wear excetionally long with my style of riding but after some sorties in the mountains the front tire has cupped noticably and at the last safety check my tech advised I go to the Pilot as well. Hmm m...

Re: Clutch spline failures - Let's get serious

Newbee here just tapping into this concern since I have a used as in out of warranty 02 model R 1150 R model which I bought used. The thing that has me scratching my head is why one would assume this is a current fault of all boxer beemers. /The new film Long way down features to boxer GS models , b...
