Re: Exhaust System for the Rockster

I agree with DrAlf, After a long search, I came to the conclusion that the Laser full system was best. So that's what I bought. If you are looking to do performance type of riding on your rockster (or turn your rockster into a hooligan-type bike), and want the optimum HP gains, this is the way to go...

Re: Romancing with Guzzis

As far as facts...here is the deal. If you get a Guzzi, be prepared for VERY poor dealer support, and shoddy parts network. on the plus side, its a brotherhood of owners, and everyone helps everyone out. There are good aftermarket parts suppliers for them, and very knowledgeable community, since wel...

Re: R1150R Hard starting when engine is cold

CyclRob, I came to the same conclusion this morning. I pumped up gas from a different gas station last night (usually, I buy form the shell station by my house, but this time, I pumped from the 76 in La Canada - more expensive cars there). Went to start the bike up this morning, and fired right up, ...

Re: R1150R Hard starting when engine is cold

Boxer, I double checked that cable, and it was fine. The hard starting problem has been here before the QD change, so I dont think that is the cause. Here is what I have so far: Fuel: 1. pump works, filter has less than 8K miles on it, QDs are now good to go, I dont know how to check the FInjectors,...

Re: R1150R Hard starting when engine is cold

The motor turns as normal, when starting.
The fast idle and the start-faster idle both function as they should.
its not a side stand switch issue either. I've already checked that one.
...maybe an air leak?

R1150R Hard starting when engine is cold

Greetings all, I did a search, and didnt find the answer I was looking for, so here it goes. I have a 2004, Twin spark, R1150R Rockster with 32K miles on it. Lately, it has become very difficult to start in the morning, or after the engine gets cold (i.e., in the afternoon, going home from work). He...

Re: Rescue project

heh.
My bike looks exactly like that :)
Except, I'm too cheap to powdercoat the wheels black.

then again, mine has 30K on it...so its no spring chicken.
In all honesty, I think it looks great. It needs to have the emissions can removed and a once-over, but I dont think it looks sad at all.

Re: Stubel Airhorn

I'm very interested in how you end up mounting it. The cavity under the steering head wont work for me, because I have my HID ballast in there. Speaking of which. If the PIAA lights are so expensive (I used to have a pair, they both burned out), you guys should try the HID kits. they have them in H4...

Re: Parts/pieces you wish you had, but no one makes

You know what I would love. I'd like a set of latches/etc., that can be mounted on a hard-shell guitar case (electric or accoustic), that would allow you to mount the case to the system case rails. I travel quite often with my guitar, and in summer months, I'd love to just ride rather than drive. Co...

Actually, the system is not compatible with the laser partial system.
The diameter of the pipes and where they join are made, so you have to replace the whole system.
I'm in Los Angeles, CA.

If you're still interested, please PM me.
we may be able to work on a partial trade.

Per my understanding, the system is no longer in production. however, it does add GOBS of power/torque, and the bike feels amazing with it. The down side is, you need to change your rear left turn signal, to something smaller and metal, because it does hit the stock turn signal, and it will melt it ...

I have installed HIDs on my Rockster about 2 years ago. Its great. The temperature of the bulb isnt higher than the halogen ones, so it works out fine. I've drilled 2 small holes with grommets in the housing of the light in the back (the cap that screws on, with the wires on it). I dont have picture...

the 2 sticker is a "California Hwy 2" sign sticker. The CA Hwy 2 is the Angeles Crest Hwy. Perhaps, one of the best motorcycling roads in the world. I grew up 3 miles from its base. I now live 4 miles from its base, and work 2 miles from its base (its on the way to work for me). So the loc...

I'd recommend a different bike, if your only intention is 2-up touring. I LOVE my Rockster, and in fact, its my touring bike. I have done a 2500 mile trip on it, fully loaded, and have had no problems. Considering you have to stop every 150 miles or so for gasoline, its pretty much perfect. Then aga...

You're correct. the rears are brembi, fronts are tokiko.

Yup, the OE pads are the same value as the EBCs, and half the work!
