2011 Wheel Question

Bought a front wheel for my RT, don't fit. I think it is for a 2011 R1200R. It is the grey one with the curved spokes. Has a part number that is weird on it though. Can anyone measure the width of their hub and the distance of the rotors for me? I am getting about 5&5/8" outside to outside....

Traded my R1200R

Hated to do it but I traded my R for an RT. at 6'4" I just needed a bigger bike. I had Corbin build me a very nice seat, had them build it up 1.5' so it is like the BMW tall seat. That still did not do it so I traded her. I kept the seat, guess she will be sold. Took three months to get it and ...

Re: Fuel leak

My bikes are both 2007 models. I really doubt that the R is the only one that had a problem. It is possible that for some reason RT's got most of the bad fuel pumps. Who knows for sure, but BMW knows they have an issue. They replaced my RT fuel pump under warranty. My R bike was out of warranty. I f...

Re: Have you done a case rekey on a Roadster?

I have done the 28 liter trunk. I was told some crazy things by shops. Just like you cannot do it or 5 hours labor. I can get the trunk cylinder out in 30 seconds or less. The cases might be a little different. You might have a problem though because the cylinder has to be in a certain position lock...

Nope not interested  , I kid you. It looks good, I am in the market for a rack, too. I bought the small trunk and I think it will work well.

You can actually use a small socket. I can't remember what size fits, but I carry one.

Re: Suburban Machinery Peg Lowering

If you are cramped comfort over-rules everything else. You can always sell if you don't like them. Ron Comfort over-rules dragging a peg, getting startled by it, standing the bike up and ridding off the side of the road, or over the dbl yellow line into on-coming traffic? If your knees are cramped,...

Re: Suburban Machinery Peg Lowering

If I can do this to the stock foot controls, then any lowering of the pegs will compromise the bikes ability to turn. Well .. d'uh! :P Lowered pegs aren't for all of us, but some of us need 'em and some of us just like 'em. Me , I don't scrape in my nightmares , let alone my dreams ... :( However, ...

Re: Fuel Leak

Ron, I've been following the issue on that other forum too. Looks like the fuel pump assembly failure is more common than I would have guessed. I tried the JB weld repair twice with negative results. The high pressure fuel first cut it's way through the weld and on the second try, just sprayed out ...

Re: Fuel Leak

There is a post on the BMW ST board about this. This is evidently a common problem. I have a 2007 RT and it is cracked. I ordered metal disconnects for the RT and my 2007 R1200R. Guess what upon taking off the R tank it is cracked, too. I will be trying a repair using JB Water Weld. Time will tell. ...

Re: Looking for RT to R owners

I agree the R is a damn good looking bike, easier to work on, too. Speaking of windshields I put my stock RT windshield on the touring bracket. It worked out pretty well, I raised it as high as I could.

Re: Looking for RT to R owners

Hey Mike, I have an RT and an R. I love the RT for the long haul. I am 6'4' and the RT is more comfortable. I only have about 1,300 miles on the R, but I will say the lighter weight equals more fun. I have seen guys ride the R all over the country. You might wish you had the wind protection at times...

Re: New member, new bike. New seat?

I am 6'4" so getting the perfect fit has been tough. I had a Bill Mayer low seat on the bike when I bought it. Sold that seat got the standard stock seat, no good. Bought I Rick Mayer seat made for me, still not perfect, bought a tall seat, still not there. I am using the Rick Mayer, but I woul...

Re: New member, new bike. New seat?

I would get the bike and ride it first. It would be insane to buy a seat on a recommendation from someone. Suffer if you have to  but spending money on seat that is not right for you [-X . Good luck with the bike.
