Re: Headlight net on r1200r 2011

I've been using the Rizoma class retro bar end mirrors for about a year now and they've been great. Almost 100% vibration free and clear. They look great too.

Can't help with respect to the headlight grille.

Re: Helmet options for the naked riders

I've had good luck with my Shoei TZ-R, pretty quiet and with smoother air flow compared to my previous helmet, a Shark RSF Prisma. I ride both without windscreen, and with (sport screen). I've found that above 110 km/hr without the sport screen, I start getting huge amounts of chest buffeting, so I ...

Re: Leo Vince SBK - installed

Thanks for the information, Mike.

I've been wanting to get an exhaust for my bike for some time now, and the Leo Vince looks very good, and glad to hear it sounds great too. I've also been looking at the Akrapovic siliencer... I'll mull it over during the cold winter months...

Re: Leo Vince SBK - installed

Really nice bike, Mike. Could I ask, was there a dealer in Toronto where you were able to pick up the Leo Vince, or did you have to order it from the States? I see another silencer on the Leo Vince website that looks quite similar to the stock R1200R exhaust.... other than the looks, do you know of ...

Re: Flashing Odometer

You're right, Don, that would have been a good idea to take the old antenna as a spare. The dealer I took it to was the original dealer, the one I bought the bike from (BMW Toronto). They are also the ones I've had it to each time to try to fix this thing before. I decided to stick with them after t...

Re: Flashing Odometer

Update: Well I brought the bike back in for service for the brake recall and for another attempt at fixing the flashing. They got it to stop. Apparently the latest software update was installed into the bike's computer and it rectified the problem. They claim it was a miscommunication between the od...

Re: Flashing Odometer

The funny thing is, the dealer was almost acting like he would have preferred not to do the service at all. Maybe I'm way off base, but wouldn't it be in the dealer's best interest to try to work on my behalf to get BMW to cover issues, since they get paid either way? I would love to make a trip of ...

Re: Flashing Odometer

Thanks, Don. I think I will be calling the customer relations people. The rest of the bike is working well, so I would hate to have to do anything extreme with respect to lemon laws, but it's good to know that there are options. Don, have you heard about this thing with the warranty being voided if ...

Re: Flashing Odometer

As a follow up, I tried calling another dealer (one that reportedly had better service) and was actually chastised by the service advisor. I explained that I wanted to bring in my bike for a recall and a warranty issue. He asked how many km on the bike, I told him 18K, he asked do I want to do the 2...

Re: Flashing Odometer

Hi Don, Thanks for the reply. I haven't touched the electronics at all on the bike, other than to replace the battery with an odyssey, and I only did that a few months ago. So maybe it is time for an new instrument cluster then after all! I remember one tech telling me something about how the comput...

Re: Footgear

I wear Alpinestars Web Gore-tex Boots. They've been great, and they're the only footgear I use while on the bike. They're fairly good in the rain and they're very comfortable. Protection seems good too, though I've never tested them.

Flashing Odometer

Hi all, My odometer has been flashing since about a month into ownership... a little over 2 years now. I live a few hours from my dealer and I do mine own maintenance, so I'm not there often. I've been there I think 2 times - once for break in service (I thought I'd get them to do that first one) an...

Re: Touratech Windscreen Spoiler

Hey, that thing looks perfect! I think it might fit on my sport screen and take what's left of the wind noise away.

I'm thinking of ordering one. Anyone have any experience with fit on the stock sport screen?

Re: New member, new bike. New seat?

Hamish, I used a sheepskin for my first long trip too. It helped quite a bit, but I think the main problem with the stock (standard height) seat is that it has a slight dome shape to it which causes a lot of pressure points. The sheepskin can't really help with that part of things. I found that an a...

Re: New owner on a 2008 R1200R

Regarding the windshield topic, I've had very good luck with the stock sport screen. It takes enough wind blast off my chest to let me ride for extended periods at high speeds. For reference, I'm 6'2" and am using the standard seat. I'm actually planning on chaning my seat to the tall comfort s...

That looks great! I wonder if it could possibly be a successor to the R12R? We still haven't heard about the 2011 model...... :)

Re: Decent deal or too good to be true?

It does just look like the seat is not engaged... not sure why he'd shoot a photo like that. And the pannier picture looks like a stock photo, but of an R1200ST. Same panniers, but again, not the bike in question. I understand the desire to go new, and I did just that, with my own purchase. Takes th...

Just wondering if most people are receiving letters regarding the recall.

Anyone in Canada get one yet? I'm still waiting to hear from BMW.
