Re: Roadster broken down in Mexico, HELP PLEASE!
Hi Joe Lots of these guys go to/fro Baja all the time also. Someone here might be able to help. There is probably a similar forum for LA adv riders but I don't know the name of it. http://dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?/forum/38-baja-info-upcoming-baja-rides-ride-reports-baja-photos-etc/ hth, Dad

Re: which BMW r to buy
I went with the R because I wanted to get back to the feel of motorcycling. It may sound very odd but I wanted to actually have to stress about how much and what to pack for trips. I wanted to be a little bit more bothered by the weather. I guess the only way to describe it is my big GS with large ...

Re: Roadster broken down in Mexico, HELP PLEASE!
Hi Joe - You will find lots of people willing to help at the below forums. Many of them travel to and fro Baja all the time (some by airplane), and it is quite likely someone will be able to transport your parts (and possibly you). They will also be able to advise on paid freight services and custom...

Re: The new BMW R 1200 R. The new BMW R 1200 R Classic.
Here's some pics my son took of the 2011 Classic at the Long Beach MC Show in December. I don't own a R1200R (yet), so I'm not around them all the time like most of you are, and I haven't stood next to a R1200R for months, and I'll tell ya, those cylinders sticking out the sides seemed huge. Not tha...

Re: Twin Cam R1200GS for Twin Cam R1200R
I spent a total of 10 years working at a BMW dealership, first as a Service Adviser and then a Service Manager, and then later as a Warranty and retail administrator. I always had strong ties with Bracknell (UK) and was always aware of the latest developments. THE DOGS Of course we know how accurat...

Re: what did you pay for you 6K service?
That is what I am worried about. BMW Motarrad ? is known to knock off the coverage if their dealers don't do it all. :-X That is illegal by Federal and most states' laws as well, but unscrupulous/uncooperative dealers do prey on consumers with that myth. And BMW nor any other major mfgr does not en...

Re: Route to Tuscany
Has anyone made a trip to Tuscany at all? I am looking for the best route/stopover points , missing out the motorways and autoroutes/strada where possible but need to get there in 3 travelling days. My guess would be to try to break the back of the trip on day 1 and then take it a bit easier on the...

Re: General roadside assistance?
The main problem with AAA is that they're actually a state-by-state, rather than truly national organization, so the coverage can vary tremendously. For instance, in California, motorcycles are definitely not covered, no-way, no-how (from the website); but they have a pretty high level of coverage ...

What do you think of this deal on a used 2008 from a dealer?
I've been wanting a R1200R and lurking here for a long time. Seems like it is getting to be a pretty good time to buy. How good of a deal is this one that my local dealer is offering me? $12,000 Used Cristal Grey Metallic 2008 R1200R with 600 miles on it, ABS, htd grips, computer, saddlebag mts, cen...

Re: R1200R Front and Rear Brakes
I don't believe ABS is involved in the proportioning of front and rear brakes; ABS is an Antilock Braking System.silvermcoupe wrote:When I apply the front hand brake does ABS apply equal pressure to the front and rear?

Re: should I???
Not a good deal. For one thing, like Don, I wouldn't buy a new bike without ABS. Last Saturday I looked at a new 2007 (bought from another dealer's stock) with all those options, plus ABS, that the dealer wanted $12,995 for. http://www.bmwmcnc.com/used/used.php?id=1218657619 The dealer told me BMW N...
