Re: Do it your self valve adjustment.
A goup of us here in Cleveburg did our own adjustments the other week. With good results BTW. I too had trouble replacing the rubber plug that covers the sproket. Someone there suggested replacing it with the plug that comes on the airheads. I went to the local dealers ship and the parts guys carrie...

Re: GPS: To wire or not to wire... that is the question.
The absolute easiest way is to go behind the power adapter, and notice the two power wires that attach by slip fit connectors. Just pull those and slide in the bare wire end of the GPS. There is enough room to make a solid connection when you re-attach. Hint these wires are hot so you will have power...

Re: MOA Rally?
I just signed up and plan on camping. As far as travel it is a good 8-10 hrs I think from Cleveland. I'm not sure if I could get it done in one day or maybe spend the night in WV (Princeton) then come in on Thursday morning. I hear to have a chance to win any door prizes you must be there on Saturda...

Re: Has Anyone Tried A Parabellum Super Tour Shield
I have one on my 2002 R1150R. I'm about 6' tall and sit on a Rick Mayer seat that puts my butt an inch or two higher than the stock seat. I also use a Wunderlich touring handlebar. Therefore, my head position is higher and further to the rear than stock. The Parabellum gives me good head and body p...

Re: Peg Lowering
I was using a Suburban lowering kit. He does sell a modified shift lever but nothing for the brake. I never did feel that I needed the shift lever. I wear a 12.5 boot and really never felt it was an issue. Just slid my foot under the lever. The brake you can lower it somewhat but it is a minor adjus...

Re: New R1150R owner
Welcome! I too was new in the spring of 2008 just purchasing a 2002 R1150R. It is quite the addictive habit and you should be careful not to get to heavy into the tweaking phase. It will cost you all your spare change, but increase your love for riding and the bike. Hope to hear some stories from yo...

Re: 002 R1150R vs 2004 R1150R
Well I bought myself another add on. Elf Highway Pegs. Brand new never put on, bike was traded in for a 1200 GS. Paid $225 shipped. I have mounted the Givi mount and Pelican case on the bike. Looks nice but I need to be careful when swinging my leg over the seat. Throttle lock not on yet. Rode about...

Re: 002 R1150R vs 2004 R1150R
Yes south is an option. I have a free place to stay near Charlotte NC. If I recall there is also a BMW ride-in but is that not more like July in eastern Tenn / NC area? Now you have me thinking maybe Virginia or WV in the spring. Ohio River tour from Marietta to Louisville, KY. Or to Cincy for some ...

Re: 002 R1150R vs 2004 R1150R
Well I keep adding items as I tweak it up a bit. I did over 3000 miles this summer. Zumo 450. Mounted on the handle bars just left of center. Slightly covers the speedo, but with the GPS it tells you the speed. Throttle Lock. Not on yet. Used center mount hard case. One of those black plastic cases ...

Re: Brake pedal height adjustment?
I too have installed the lowering kit from Suburban. Mater of fact they are in Cleveland area and I visited their facility. They do have a web site so I suggest you search for them. They sell a shifter extension but do not sell a brake extension. Their suggestion on the brake is to re-adjust the ped...

Re: Buying an r1150r
Good luck! Congrats etc. I purchased my 2002 this year and have been absolutely pleased with it's performance. It's been over 20 yrs since I last rode a bike. So in those terms you should be fine after a few miles. It took me about 700 before I felt I knew the bike and how it handles. I agree, watch...

Re: extending pegs and pedals - good idea?
I just put Suburbans peg lowering kit on mine. Very well built.
http://www.suburban-machinery.com/
Great people give them a call. I went to see them a week ago and bought the lowering kit.
Did not buy the shifter extension. Not an issue for me.
Helps my bum knees.

Let the site download. It takes a few seconds. I thought the same but after 10-20 secs the pics show up. I wish we could load off the computer like the other bmw sites. I just noticed for some reason when not signed in as a member pics did not download. Go figure, this is a first for me.

Re: 002 R1150R vs 2004 R1150R
Well I now have over 700 miles on the bike since bringing it home.. Yesterday I put on Suburban Peg Lowering Kit. I does make a difference in the knees. I can still shift but the rear brake arm will need to be lowered. Hopefully today. Not sure if I want to try the extended shifter. windshield. Toda...

Re: Is R1150R a good re-entry bike?
I did it this winter. Bought a 2002. Do take the safety riders class. It really brings back the feel and mental thought process for good riding. Love mine, 53 years old, 6'2" 280. One tweak you may need is the peg lowering kit. My knees did not like the original tight bend. Funny how the body c...
