I've never seen a BBY QD break. By the way, they are the metal versions of the same ones BMW uses, same manufacturer.

Picked up this near basket case for a song for my next winter project. Bad clutch (with a new pack in a box), bad battery, rust and corrosion everywhere. I'm thinking just to strip it down, clean it good, change out the tires and brake lines/pads, repaint the driveline black, and the bodywork white ...

For the aluminum rings: Looks like $33.00ea delivered via USPS with signature required. PayPal +3.5% or money order I can make them slight press fit or .010 on the diameter oversize for the epoxy to be between the ring and the boss.
