The transmission oil is fairly easy to detect from the smell of gear oil. It doesn’t have any scent.
How would I differentiate motor oil from brake fluid?
I’ve read where owners have spayed brake cleaner in the gap of the clutch plate after the leak repair to clean the clutch plate off.

Wet Clutch !
After a a couple Clutch bleeds I still had some slippage at peak output. I pulled the starter to check the clutch spline play, it's a 2002 with 11,000 miles. All good as there is very little play, low miles. I thought it odd that I could not see the spline. https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipM-ik...

There are plug in LED’s available.
I replaced my bulbs mainly due to the stock incandescent bulbs were so dim.
Here is a comparison with the stock bulb on the right in the tach housing.

Re: Oil burning
Good point. The air box drain was dry.
I typically don’t run the oil level to the top of the sight glass. More like 1/2 to 3/4.

Re: Oil burning
Thanks for the heads up. I won't worry about then. It uses enough oil as it is !
I need to come up with a center stand bumper as the "breadbox" is gone.
I put the CS back on when I park it in the Garage.

Oil burning
While on a multi-day ride I noticed a decent plume of oil smoke when starting the 1150. I understand you do not want to leave it on the side stand for extended periods. Odd thing is it would do this after just going into a store and not after sitting all night at a Campground. Occasionally there wou...

I realize this is not your intent but I have the cooper loop fitting to remove the ABS if you so desire. I can mail it to you if you want to remove the servo.

Re: Gas line leak
Spent some time in the shop whilst watching the playoffs this weekend. Flipping the gas tank I found the fuel hose that was leaking had a crooked clamp on the ear. The hoses looked good though they both would spin freely. I would venture that over time as the rubber compresses the non adjustable cla...

Re: Gear Oil Choices
Thanks Swamper. It shifts well with Dealer gear oil in it. At just under 10,000 miles it should only get better.
I'll get a couple quarts of 90 wt. Should be enough for both the tranny and final drive. Cheers!

Gear Oil Choices
I’ll be changing the final drive and transmission oil.
Any reason to use something other than the 90 wt. GL5 Hypoid gear oil called out in the manual? Synthetic?

Front Spline Greasing Short Cut
One task for this Winter is greasing the final drive splines.
I found this short cut for the 1200 front splines.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ub07EkInVY
I was wondering if the 1150 had the same clip engagement and if it were accessible from the left side/underneath?

Re: Gas line leak
Then last week I noticed a hydraulic leak on the wood splitter. Both hose clamps on the low pressure side of the pump had stripped out teeth due to vibration. Maybe I should change my screen name to”Hose Clamp” :O https://photos.app.goo.gl/AAhXZLaW6jPghv9K7 That's possibly one of the reasons they d...

Re: Gas line leak
Yeah the leak on the Sertao had the gas running down the left side right onto the pipe. I was JUST about get on it and ride it away and noticed it running off the swing arm. With the fuel pump and tank under the seat it would have made for a warm ride! Suffice to say I don't trust the OEM hose clamp...

Gas line leak
While running the R to get stabilized gas through out the system before storage I noticed gas dripping off the right side. Having already replaced the typical failing plastic quick dis-connects I raised the tank and found the output line from the fuel pump weeping when pressurized. Ironically I had ...

Re: Clutch master cylinder problem
One item to check is to bleed your master cylinder. If there was any air in the line it can rise and get stuck in the MC. Almost common after changing brake lines. Air in the MC would also make it feel useless. Put a rag under the Banjo bolt on the MC. Just crack the bolt going into the MC then, whi...

+1 on the Sargent seats. I currently have 3 Motorcycles with them including the R1150R. I've ridden multiple long days, some 700+ miles with only a Alaskan Sheepskin pad added. The sheepskin is a must. Keeps you from getting shweaty b*lls ;) in the heat and warmer in cold weather. Possible promo cod...

Re: What's next for your 1150?
I have a few "to do's" this Winter. While prepping the Motorcycles for storage recently the 1150 was puking gas while idling. Hmmm, the 650 BMW was also gushing gas this Summer I will chase it down this Weekend as the temp's will be 60 next week and will get back out for another ride. Hope...
