Adjustable Handlebars-Thar Bars

Since I bought my R1150R new in 2004, I've never been able to get comfortable with the handlebars. I tried bar-backs, and have been riding with Wunderlich Touring Wellness bars for some years... but the result has always been forearm fatigue due to improper width and angles that forced me to contort...

Re: Adjustable handlebars for R12R

It's not pretty, but I hope it will be far more comfortable on long rides.

Re: R1150R windshield

The Wunderlich Vario screen looks interesting to me... Perhaps its adjustability would help minimize buffeting? Anybody tried one?

Re: Adjustable handlebars for R12R

I just ordered mine. Been riding with Wunderlich Touring Wellness bars for a few years, but I've found them to be too wide and they put my wrists at an odd angle. Looking forward to having the TharBars' full adjustability.

The correct answer is both. I also wear a belt with my suspenders.

Re: Wunderlich Touring Wellness Handlebars

I've had these bars for a few years. They do provide a more upright riding position, and are a big relief on the wrists. My only complaint is they are too wide. Sometimes I feel like I'm driving a school bus. At speed, with my arms catch the wind as they are spread wider than what seems right. These...

Re: Disc Brake Rotor Rattles

I recently noticed on my 2004 R1150RA, the front left rotor floats pretty loosely... seems like more than 2mm of play. The right rotor is mounted solidly. That doesn't seem right to me.

Re: Used Bike Checkout

That is correct, Chibbert... Shortly after powering up the bike, the servos give a quick whine burst... only about .47 seconds. I've never had any issue with the servos bringing down the battery... but then again, I don't usually apply the brakes with the engine not running. For loading and garage m...

>>ABS servos should whine and then stop whining (help here please)<<

Not necessarily true. My 2004 R1150r ABS servos will continue to whine as long as you apply the brakes.

Re: '04 R1150R ABS Servo

I just tried this on my 2004 R1150RA... It didn't work. I stood on the pedal as hard as I could, but the servo just kept going.

Re: Why all the garage tip-overs?

I dropped mine the first week I owned it. I was parking it at work, and stepped in a small water puddle as I was walking the bike into its space. As I put the weight of my foot on the center stand, the slippery sole of my shoe slid of the stand pedal. That was enough to get the bike slowly tipping a...

I would love to have clip-on style handlebars adapted to my R, fully adjustable for height, grip angle, fore/aft distance. Been thinking about talking to a machinist to get this done.

I've tried bar-backs and Wunderlich Touring Comfort handlebars, but still can't find the comfort zone.

You also forgot suspension/forks

The only problem I've had with my bike was a leaking fork seal.

I put the Wunderlich Touring Comfort bars on my bike after a couple years with Moto-Techniques bar backs. I'd like to say that the the Wunderlich bars are vastly more comfortable, but they offered only a slight improvement in my case. Although the wrist angle is better, the bars feel too wide for th...

You can jump start them off the starter motor. + to starter main terminal, negative to frame. Why does everyone hate the sight glass?? I think it is one of the easiest to read. You're right about the jump starting off the motor... I learned that as I added the terminal. It's just a lot easier with ...

The R1150R is a fantastic bike, but here's what I don't like: 1. Comfort. The seat, the handlebars, the footpegs are all in the wrong places. I've replaced the seat and handlebars. 2. ABS is wonderful... but incredibly expensive to maintain. No do-it-yourself bleeding. Figure $300 per year for brake...
