Re: Cold starting

Dont forget your oil is thicker when cold and therefore takes more cranking power to turn over the engine. With temps in the 30'sF or lower I have had good luck warming the oil with a trouble light sitting near the oil pan for an hour or so before my ride.

I rotate my tires but always hate when I have to put the whitewalls out, so I plan ahead and install tires so only one whitwall is out at any given rotation.

Re: Removing tank stickers

WD-40 a soft rag and a little time. I needed to use my fingernail every now and again but both stickers came off with no scratches or dulling of finish. Take your time. I think the bike looks a whole lot better without them.

reflective black vests

Pat I like these reflective vests: http://www.accidentscene.net/sos/ridingvests.htm I use them for overcast and night riding since my riding attire is dark. I have one for my wife as well. I have a third vest that I have never used and would sell for $30 (1/2 price). It is the single stripe version ...

Passport and ear jack

I use the passport 8500 mounted to my clutch reservoir. I had my BMW tech hard wire it and I run an ear jack wire under the tank and seat so I can lay an ear jack next to my ear under my helmet. I went to an ear jack because I never caught the lights on the detector due to my focus on the road. I ag...

Bill Mayer no stiching leather seat

I have been very pleased with my Bill Mayer leather seat. Unlike his brother Rick, Bill's seats have no stiching which can allow more water absorption. The smooth leather is so much more comfortable than vinyl and allows me to ride longer distances without the monkey butt feel. I also had the Bill M...

K75c or R75/6

Thanks all for the input. Sounds like both have their advantages. The photo of the R90s and the r1200 is a real sales pitch! They look great together. Also good to know the /6 is comfortable. I like that the K75c is a good all arounder. The decision is no easier but it helps to hear preferences from...

K75c or R75/6 for a second bike?

I am looking at a couple used bikes. One is a 1986 K75c with 19,500 miles with the second owner of 4 years selling it. The second bike is a 1976 R 75/6 with 43,000 miles and the number of owners is a question. I have yet to test ride or look at either in person. I still have not talked to the owner ...

rubber o-rings a big improvement

I put two o-rings on the top and one below. Much clearer view. Low speeds in town and the mirrors are glass clear. They still fuzz a little at higher revs/speed. My left mirror is clearest up to 80 mph or so and the right mirror becomes clearest above 80mph. I torqued the nuts down pretty tight so I...

I'll have to try the slow carressing accleration and imagine my wife for extra motivation. I get walloped when I cross the line! Your c...
