Re: Tire recommendation(s)?
Shortly after buying my RR I picked up a nail in my rear tire so I was off tire shopping as well. I landed on the Avon Storms. I've got 6,500 miles on them right now and they have about another 1K of life left. These tires have seen lots of highway miles loaded up with camping gear with trips from I...

Re: DDM Tuning HID
The install when smoothly on my buddies F800ST this past weekend. It took a little over an hour but most of that was spent removing his fairing, deciding on where to run the wires and mount the ballast. The actual install was very simple. He went with a 55w 6,000 bulb which was a touch too much on t...

Re: DDM Tuning HID
I was thinking ths same thing. I'll see how the install goes Thursday evening and I'll post back the results. It looks like a simple enough install. I think I'd install the components back by the battery someplace as their instructions say to put it in a cool dry place. I don't know if I want to in...

DDM Tuning HID
Any one running one of DDM Tuning's HID setups on their R1150r? I've got a buddy that is installing one of these setups on his F800ST this week and I was thinking about doing an upgrade on the RR.

Re: R1150R Challenging observation and memory
Do you remember where you picked up those turn signals or who made them? That is a mod I've been wanting to do for awhile now.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Anyone tried the "sparky" highway pegs ?
Can't say that I have tried them yet but I just bought a set of the BMW MOA for 175 bucks shipped. When they arrived they looked brand new. If you are seriously thinking about picking up a pair, I would advise you to keep your eyes open for a lightly used set. Another riding buddy of mine picked up ...

Re: Dry Bags - Help Needed
Hawkman - I sent you a PT. I'd be interested in seeing some pictures of the bags on the bike if possible, my concern was with the exhaust and how close it would be to the bags. Sounds like it was a non issue for you. I've thought about going to the hard bags and really cost isn't the issue. I'm not ...

Re: Dry Bags - Help Needed
I would agree they are pricey but they look extremely cheap compared a hard back setup. For Christmas I got a Sea to Summit 35L Big River Dry bag which I had planned on strapping lenghtways across the back seat (no passenger on this trip). I figured with a set of soft bags and my dry bag I would be ...

Dry Bags - Help Needed
I'm looking to pick up a set of dry bags for my trip out west this year. Has anyone had any experience with the Ortlieb Low Profile Dry bags? http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Ortlieb-Low-Profile-Dry-Bag-Saddlebag-p-19109.html What are some other good choices for the R1150R for soft dry bags? Than...

Re: Lets see a favorite pix of your R1150R
I've rode in several good rainstorms since the mod and haven't had any complains from my fellow riders and it doesn't seem to throw that much more spray on the bike than it used to. The little bit more spray I get is far offset by the enhancement in the looks department in my opinion.

Re: Lets see a favorite pix of your R1150R
AirForceDirt I started out by using a reciprocating saw to hack off the rear fender (using the bottom of the license plate as a guide). Once I had my rough cut done, it was time to break out the hand files and smooth out the cut. Once that was complete, I cut some 3M reflective tape to fit the new ...

I don't have a pic of me and the bike yet but here's a picture of my RR anyways... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s290/mjweste/BMW/IMG_0992.jpg Since this picture the bike has gotten a new step of Avon Storms, Remus exhaust, cylinder guards and the rear fender shortened a bit. I'm leaving in a f...

Re: Did some mods over the weekend
I finally got some pictures of the mods. I've been crazy busy with work the past couple weeks. The weather's been pretty bad the last week or so. We had light snow showers again this morning! It's crazy, last weekend we had 65 degrees and sun! I'm happy with the way things turned out, I got the new ...

Re: Did some mods over the weekend
rdsmith3 - I've yet to have it in the rain...actually I've barely gotten to ride it since I made the mods because I'm waiting on the new battery (which I found out is back ordered until April 30th). I'm assuming it's gonig to have a bit more rooster tail however i didn't chop the fender completely o...

Re: Wunderlick Tank Bag
Whenever I use my tank back I'm uber careful to make sure I clean both the tank and the bottom of the bag. So far I've been lucky and haven't scuffed my paint...however I'm in the market for a Marsee Corona bag so this will no longer be an issue! They make some material that you can put between your...

Did some mods over the weekend
I did some mods over the past weekend, chopped the rear fender, replaced the fugly rear reflectors with some reflective 3M tape and added a Remus can and y-pipe. The mods went well overall. Chopping the rear fender was very simple and turned out awesome! It's always a little nerve racking taking a s...

Re: Which Exhaust?
I just installed a Remus system on my bike this evening. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet :x but it's considerably lighter than stock and sounds much throatier. If you are looking for the most weight savings, check out the Ztechnik system, and is 20 some pounds lighter than the stock system! I ...
