Re: Riding with earbuds and music
Hey there neighbor, hope you are well. Thanks for the connect with CR. I will be visiting him soon. I decided to go with Bluetooth, using my Android phone. It is fabulous. I opted for an off-brand helmet with built-in system, just to see if it suits me. I will be upgrading this riding season. If you...

Re: Question about System Case compatibility...
I know I am late for this, but.... I have system cases on my 05 RR, which came off of a GS. Bought them off a fellow member here who lives near me. They work perfectly. I find that I only use them for overnighters, as I prefer the look sans panniers. I have a small tailbag I use for local riding whi...

There are quite a few: The Allman Brothers - Midnight Rider. Tom Petty - Runnin' Down a Dream Blue Oyster Cult - Transmaniacon MC (the only song on my list that's actually about motorcycling.) If you arent familiar with it, check out Willie Nelson's version of Midnight Rider. As much as I love the ...

Re: Saddlebags / Top Case & Guards
Im relatively new here as well having puchased my roadster earlier this year. Going into the puchase I was convinced that I wanted a topbox also. I liked the look of topbox sans sidecases(and still do). After reading and listening I decided to get the side cases((I also had mount rails in place) and...

Pointed at your helmet, forehead. Or chest.
Wayne, thanks again for your valuable advice last night.

Re: You asked why I want a skid plate on My "R"
Because life isn't all about the freeway. Any questions? So its either the freeway or trails? For me its long sweeping curves I can accelerate out of in 4th, or tight switchbacks I can push it through at high rpm's, all on asphalt. Not trying to be argumentative, but I am not taking my number one g...

I was rear ended yesterday at the top of an exit ramp off I-75, in my car. I can't stop thinking about how things would have been had I been on my bike....

Re: Sitting at light......neutral or 1st gear?
I typically keep it in gear, clutch engaged. However occasionally at extended lights I will go to neutral so I can stretch my left hand a little, especially if I've been on the bike awhile. *Good speaking with you last night Wayne. Sorry I had to rush off the phone. I might head towards Deals Gap on...

Re: Throttlemeister on for cruise control
My Bike's previous owner installed a throttle meister, and in the process damaged an element of the grip heating, resulting in it being inoperable(heated grip on that side). After researching I learned that is a fairly common occurrence, so you might consider having the dealer do it. I have no use o...

Re: Adding A Screen
Mine has a windscreen, which I think is the BMW sport screen, with the addition of 'laminar lip'. Both were installed by a PO, not sure if at the same time or even by the same PO(I am third owner). Still there is a significant blast over 60mph so I tend to 'lay' behind it as much as possible when on...

Re: A defensive mentality while riding
I strive to stay as far away as possible from other motorists. It would be hard to argue against that, especially considering my motorcycling experience(at least on the streets) is measured in months rather than years, however I do have an example that at least is worth consideration. It makes me f...

Re: stupid dilemma - safety or expediency in summer riding g
I've been riding all summer(when not raining) in the Atlanta area, and always wear jeans and mesh jacket. Only on one occasion did I feel excessively hot, at a prolonged traffic light in the middle of the day with full sun. And I was more concerned with the air cooled boxer than myself. I don't see ...

Re: sidebag compatability
Thanks, good info to have. I will hold onto it.
I was looking at ebay and boneyard at options for just the bottom portion of left side when the guy texted me saying they had sold....ironically to a guy on 1150r with custom exhaust. Both bags with liners for $125 new condition.

sidebag compatability
An ad on local craigslist has left and right bags at a reasonable price, but they came off an R1100S(model year unknown) Does anyone know or know of a resource to help determine if they will fit my 05/1150r ?

Re: Oil Filter Leak
Sounds like a great time. Boxer has not mentioned it. Perhaps he knows I have no luggage on my R as of yet, and am not real prepared for overnighters. None the less, I am a divorced Dad with a young daughter whom I spend alternate weekends with. It seems most fun, motorcycle, 'organized' events fall...

Re: Oil Filter Leak
Not harsh at all Wayne, you are tellin it like it is. I am grateful. So I am going to use the OEM filter I bought from Blue Moon Cycles here in the ATL, this afternoon. As it turns out, Amazon carries the AC Delco PF53 for $6, and with my Prime membership I get free shipping. I have one on the way t...

Re: Oil Filter Leak
Well in that case I will replace it. Thanks for your candor.
You mention that I will need to replace the oil in the crankcase. Forgive my ignorance, but that is done by putting oil in the normal filler hole in top of cylinder correct?

Re: Oil Filter Leak
It wouldn't budge using just my hand. The leaking does seem to have subsided, likely due to having not been run since about Noon on Sunday. I guess the oil not being under pressure or temperature, doesn't look for a way out as when running. I did find several reviews on retailer sites and other moto...

Re: Oil Filter Leak
Hottek, I did make sure the old ring/gasket was out prior to installing new filter. Thanks though! Boxer, are you saying I'm weak? Certainly with my substantial girth, my hand tightening strength is at least average. :) Yes I did turn a quarter turn after hand tightening, so haven't even thoug...

Oil Filter Leak
Did my first oil change a few weeks ago. All went well, except for perhaps filter selection. In researching for proper replacement oil filters, I purchased an OEM unit from the dealer, which I still have NIB. I then found several listed online as good alternate aftermarket units. My intention was to...
