Re: Tankbags?

I just realized that you can still make the BF22 ring work with my 2007 R1200R. While it is true that there are no screws holding the hinge of the filler cap onto the lid, the plastic piece holding it on has a flange on each side that you can push to slide the plastic piece off, then remove the hing...

Re: Tankbags?

The BF22 tank ring also doesn't work on a 2007 R1200R. I couldn't quite tell what Bill meant about having the filler cap held on to the ring by 2 screws, but after ordering the BF22 ring and trying to install it, I realized _exactly_ what he meant. Unfortunately I guess the guy I spoke with at Givi ...

Re: Tankbags?

I found out from Givi directly that the BF06 tank ring should fit the bike (any model) but it is being replaced by the BF22 (which will also fit).

Re: Tankbags?

Does anyone know which flange (if any) will fit a 2007 R1200R? According to the GIvi fit sheet, the BF22 will fit the 2011-2014 R, but I don't see any Rs that are earlier years than that?

Re: Fuel Strip (Again)

I paid for a new fuel strip because mine failed out of warranty. I just had that replaced one under the new extended warranty (at no charge) and reviewed the service bulletin with the dealer. It says that if a customer paid to have the fuel strip replaced out of warranty, then the dealership should ...

Re: NOW AVAILABLE FROM SARGENT CYCLE PRODUCTS!

I just got the Sargent seat that Don spoke about (complete with heated option) and must say it is _far_ superior to the stock BMW seat. The turn around time was less than 2 weeks, and installing the heated seat option was fairly straightforward. The controller is variable (not just on-off) and works...

Re: Corbin seat - about to pull the trigger

Is the BMS leather slippery (such that you slide around in the seat)? I had a Corbin leather seat for my old Honda Nighthawk 750 which felt great, but I slid forward and backwards a lot with acceleration and braking. I understand that the leather will be more comfortable, but wondering if the vinyl ...

Bar snake

Has anyone used the liquid version of this product (http://www.barsnake.com) to help with handlebar vibrations on the R1200R? The welded bar ends with weights prohibit insertion of the solid snake, but it looks like the opening on the handle (where the weights screw into) would allow pouring the liq...

Re: Changing Oil

I am going into Knoxville tomorrow to buy a filter , a wrench and some oil I suppose (unless someone talks me out of it and has a better oil in mind ) but is there anything else I should get while I'm at the shop? Items for me , the wife , or the R1200R I mean. Mark Make sure you get a washer to pl...

I checked with both BP and Sheetz (a convience store in PA that sells gas) and neither have added any ethanol to the fuel they sell. It seems that it's much more common out west than in the northeast. So I would check with your local gas stations to see if their gas contains ethanol. Unfortunately (...

I just spoke with Kisan this afternoon and learned that, as ShinySideUp mentioned, the new 20W-DZ (specifically designed for the BMW CANBUS system) should solve my problems. Unfortunately, it still won't be available for several weeks, but they will ship it to me once it is available. One note, Kisa...

Kisan Tailblazer lamp error code

I just installed a Kisan Tailblazer 20W-D on my R1200R -- this is the replacement rear lamp bulb that blinks rapidly then slows down over about 5 seconds until it gives a solid light when you brake. Despite what ka5ysy mentioned on another thread about the Kisan headlight modulator, I've noticed tha...

Earphone laws

Speaking of earphones, does anyone know of a website that lists the various states' laws regarding using earphones while riding? I've found a lot that include helmet laws, but none for earphones or helmet speakers.

Battery Charging

When connecting the charger to the battery (not through the accessory socket), are you still supposed to have the battery disconnected from the electrical system so that the current from the charger doesn't damage the CANBus?

thanks,

Clymer manual

Does anyone know if/when Clymer will be making a new shop guide for the R1200R?

I'm picking up my new R1200R tomorrow from the dealer. From everyone's posts, it sounds like it's going to be a great upgrade from my '91 Honda CB750 Nighthawk.

thanks,
