Well, I just bought a 2008 R1200R non ABS also. The previous owner bought it in Italy. I live in Switzerland, where all new BMW motorcycles are sold with ABS. But this is a Swiss importer decision, not a legal obligation.

My previous bike was a beautiful red 2007 VFR800 ABS. My current bike is a 2008 R1200R and is fantastic but the VFR with its fairing and touring screen make a much quieter ride. So I do miss it a little.

stratus17, what do you think of the new screen, compared with the speedster one? The speedster looks nicer but the MRA gives much better protection: I tend to ride faster now without noticing. The spoiler is now in "low" position. I will try it on "high" position on the highway.
