Tale
Lousy situation, but great writing. One question for you. When I wrecked my bike and had to have it towed, Roadside assistance only paid $50 toward the towing cost which was $400!!! to go the 60 or so miles. Did roadside assistance cover the full cost for you?

Thanks
Thanks for all the support. It really helps. The road I was on was Highway 94 outside of Campo which is 40 miles or so East of San Diego. As far as the jacket goes, I think the stitching of the elbow patch just didn't hold. There were some tears in the arms and back as well which had nothing to do w...

The other car didn't stop. Like I said, he wasn't WAY over the centerline. As it was a curve I doubt he even saw me go down. I've got a few months to heal up before I have to decide so I'll take the time to do some pondering. As I said, it's hard to imagine not riding again. Plus I kind of want to g...

Total loss
Just got word from my insurance adjuster that my 2002 black beauty is a total loss. I wrecked on Sunday about 40 miles outside of San Diego on the back roads that I travel for fun all the time. This time not so much fun. The day started out great and I was really in the zone. Not going fast, but ver...

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a bad fuel pump.

touring
I've done my share of touring, including a 5 day round-trip from San Diego, through Yellowstone in May with tons of rain and snow as well as 2 week Alpine tour. I agree with what you've said in regards to taking pictures and general comfort. It is definitely a hassle to stop and start. Especially in...

BMWchef
It's been a couple of years since I rode with the Chef, but at that time he was just setting up Zocalo's a restaurant here in San Diego. Definitely a good guy.

I have an email address for him as well.
