The R1100R has been replaced by a R1200GS
Therefore I'll have to leave you guys. I'll have to find another forum to join ;) Thanks all you who joined my discussions and answered my questions, and god speed! FYI, have a look at my new bike at Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/76608913@N08/sets/72157645546402114/ Have an awesome summer. 8...

Re: FRONT BRAKE QUESTION
Recently replaced front rotors and pads. Was riding my 1997 r1100r with an open face helmet and could hear what sounded like the brakes engaging when I was stopping. The noise was not very pronounced but you could hear a contact like noise and a slight vibration in the hand brake. Any thought???? I...

Re: Recovering Jap Rider, my 1st Beemer, 1996 R1100R
Thanks Johan, does my bike have the ability to power the hand guards? where do they plug into? I found Acerbis Catalogue, here: http://www.fc-moto.com/Acerbis/Acerbis-DUALROAD-Catalog.pdf The LED's seem to be powered by two AAA-batteries inside the hand guard. At least that is what I can read from ...

Re: Soon to be BMW R1100R owner
Just following up! :P Got my new Givi top box yesterday. Used it today to work and back, perfect for my commuting. My huge laptop fits in it so can't use that excuse not to bring home work anymore. Also my size XL Shoei helmet fits nicely in it and it still leaves enough room for some more stuff. Th...

Re: my first BMW 96 R850R
Thanks for the compliments. I used plastidip in a spray can. Purchased at lowes. I wanted to give the bike a new look on the keep. Always wanted it to be black vs green. This was a cheap way to see if I liked it before spending money on a traditional paint job. The matte black looks sharp, paint la...

Re: my first BMW 96 R850R
Wow! The new black style looks great! Like a completely different bike :) how did the bike perform on the gravel roads during the off road trip? So, the plastic dipping, pros and cons campared to spray coating? I'm thinking of a paint job for my own bike but I have not yet considered plastic dipping...

Continued
Hey I still have the ambition to change handlebar but i have now prioritized orter stuff. :D 1) shorter paralever link on the back swing for better handling/shorter wheelbase, and a tad higher rear end. http://www.motorcycleparts-hornig.com/BMW-R-850-1100-1150-R-and-Rockster/Alu-High-grade-Steel/Sho...

Good job there! Your bike looks brand new

Re: After market exhausts - R1100R
Magnus, Let us know how it looks and sounds if you can, I heard a couple of Beemers yesterday that sounded great, but I could not tell what kind of exhaust they were using ,one older 1100 GS and a RT, they both had a " snarl" as they went by, put a smile on my face. Mike I hope I will put...

Re: Soon to be BMW R1100R owner
I am really happy to share with you all that the exhaust system is installed just this morning! So far I have only driven the bike up and down the street, and BOOM! The sound is awsome. Later today i'm taking the bike out for a real spin! 8) Watch pics of the complete installation on flickr: h...

Re: After market exhausts - R1100R
Hello Magnus, yes the Leo Vince is indeed another option. However users here in Germany have been happy with it while the exhaust was new. But it became much louder after some time (maybe because of the filling) ... May not be your concern though ... :) Brgds Oliver Thank you for that note, must pr...

Re: After market exhausts - R1100R
Just for the record in case someone in the future will search for after market exhaust systems I will also add: LeoVince Evolution 2 Here is an excellent clip of how it sounds with the insert pipe removed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FYUDzyZJ-E&feature=related =D> I have ordered it but not y...

Re: Big feet, Vario Footrest System from Wunderlich
Thanks for the good suggestions guys! :D Since writing the above I have purchased other boots and that helped ALOT, the new Alpinestars touring boots are soft and really comfy (ofcourse not as protective as the motocross boots, but safety wise these are better because I can operate the bike in a saf...

Re: Soon to be BMW R1100R owner
Other thing to think about is the seat, my seat is about 6cm higher than standard and completely changes the character of the bike as I sit on it rather than in it. Duc750 would you mind showing a couple of photos of your bike maybe? (a google picasa account seems like the smoothest way) :?: For ev...

Re: Soon to be BMW R1100R owner
I went for the LeoVince Evolution II (aluminium), I think it'll satisfy me for a while. And instead of ordering it from the Wunderlich dealer in Sweden for overprize I got it from a german site www.motorradparts24.de I hope the product will fit right on without problems, but you never know.. :D I'll...

Re: Soon to be BMW R1100R owner
I have a remus can and link pipe on mine, sounds nice and goes nice too! I'll look into Remus immediately, the price of the LeoVince in the Wunderlich catalogue differs so damn much from what their sales rep here in Sweden offers me. Wunderlich catalogue = 329 Euro Swedish sales rep = 525 Euro .......

Re: Soon to be BMW R1100R owner
DUC750 I saw those slimming lids on the internet yesterday, they could definitely be something for me. For the last two days I've been riding back and forth to work with only a back pack (ruck sack), and all in all the ride feels more agile without stuffed side bags. Earlier this summer I physically...
