Re: Suspension adjustments ... what do I adjust?
also found that to duplicate the stock shock's overall length, the front shock had to be at it's shortest length (no threads showing below the bottom nut). i'm finding the same thing. the front shock was shipped with about 6 threads showing, but the bike just seems too high in the front. thanks for...

Re: Just looked at a 2002 R1150R
I agree with Mikecam...$4500 would be a go. But give us more info on the extras (side bags, windscreen, etc.) Overall though, for $4500 and only 26k you'll have yourself a bike for life. I'm at 63k on mine and she's purring like a beast. Keep in mind you will need to upgrade the shocks fairly soon (...

Re: R1150R Rear Shock
Willy, I think the stock Showas on the R1150R are actually pretty nice and quite adjustable. I would crank mine down all the way when my wife and I did trips (especially with camping equipment). I just replaced my rear shock yesterday after 62K. I do not suggest riding your shocks for that long beca...

Replace Zipper on a BMW Tankbag
I did a search but found no other posts on services available that will replace zippers on a tankbag. Anyone out there ever have to do this? I bought my tankbag when I bought my R1150R in '02. It lasted about 45k or so (this zipper on the bag that is--bike's doing great!). 45K's not nearly enough mi...

Just about 50k and still in love
Problems? Well I guess you gotta define what "problems" mean, because with a lady this sweet it'd take a lot to say I've had any problems. Oh yeah, I had to get ride of those dadgum quick disonnects and replace with a solid hose, then I had to have a cylinder cover replaced (covered under ...

Darn
Yup, that's about something I would do too. When I replaced my quick disconnects I mixed up the gas hoses (i.e. the outflow was hooked into the inflow and vice versa). Low and behold she wouldn't start (even after I tried TWO times). So I switched the hoses (got gas in my eyes in the process) gave i...

r1150r crash bars
I've been looking at adding these also. Here are some R1150R-specific bars. I just found them on the Internet:

Quick Disconnects
I'm not quite sure what BMW engineer allowed the stock plastic QD's on our beloved bikes; however, the feller outta be shot! Those things are extremely dangerous. I understand there applicability, but jeesh please put decent brass QD's if you're going to use them. OK, so what I did was run a straigh...

Difficulty shifting
I have about 50k on my 02 R. I've noticed that over time shifting has become "sticky", but I've never had to stomp on my shifter. I'd be taking it into the dealer to check the clutch, specifically the master cylinder.
