This should be interesting...Don,
Those pressures seem a tad low IMHO. I'd try 36/42 PSI.

Re: Dog Days of Summer
Agreed. I can either carpool or take the bike for my commute. I shave a good 5-7 minutes off taking the bike - and to be honest, I rather enjoy zipping through traffic in the morning. On especially hot days, it's moderately annoying to arrive to work a little sweaty, but in the afternoons, I'd rathe...

Re: FAILED ABS Unit
fact is the r12's have been one of the poorest sellers in the bmw line up..... That's a problem in the whole naked/standard segment, and not (IMO) indicative of a diminished perception of quality in the model, versus others in the marque. If anything, low opinion of manufacturing standards or quali...

This one's for you Joe. I've actually been meaning to take this shot for awhile. It should come as no surprise that this is the exit for Nick's BMW in DePere, WI. Obviously.

It's just Northwest of Milwaukee. Lot of really great riding around it. I do a lap around it once or twice a week.

TKC80s come in our shoe size now. They're not cheap - north of $200 for a rear.

Scrambled R
I really loved that Touratech F800R Scrambler and the Moto Morini scramblers (pictured) really get my heart rate up. My original '07 RR didn't scream for a conversion, but the Classic with its spoke wheels and rally stripe kinda beg for it. The extra traction on camping trips and Upper Michigan week...

Wasn't the best day (as you can tell by the temperature) but I had to take a photo. I've never been lucky enough to grab a shot of one of these mileage numbers right on the money, but I got lucky yesterday. Strangely enough, it was after a 300 mile afternoon coming home and I was right at the inters...

Re: Empty Bolt Holes
I'd have to double-check when I get home, but from this pic, it looks like that's where the brake/clutch cables are secured.

Re: Back to the dark side.
Congrats on the new ride! I was in a couple of HD dealerships this weekend, and sat on quite a few. They're beautiful bikes, and if I could have more than one bike in the stable, a Harley would definitely be among them.

Re: Backrests?
Yeah, I'm gonna take a look this weekend at making something myself. I do have an inquiry out to Corbin about a backrest only option, and I'll post any reply I receive. I'm not horribly fond of the topbox/luggage rack options, but I suppose I may have to make a compromise at some point, for the lady...

Re: Backrests?
I've seen that one, but I don't really need a new seat. 3k miles on the stock comfort saddle with no complaints. I just need a backrest for the lady.

Backrests?
I'm not finding anything. Anyone have any suggestions for passenger backrests (non-topcase.) I'd be interested in seeing any DIY jobs too.

You're definitely gonna want that Classic. Reduced wind drag over the white Rally strip significantly improves performance.

Re: Question for those that have wrecked an R1200R.
The only problem is.... The dealer only has a Classic in stock. I love the Classic, just not too crazy about tubed tires and my intended use of the bike. I had similar reservations. After reflection, I decided it just didn't matter much. My first bike was a Triumph Bonneville with tubes - no issues...

Re: Question for those that have wrecked an R1200R.
I had my first RR totaled by the insurance company. Aesthetically, there didn't appear to be much damage, but parts add up quick. I ended up getting a pretty good price for it. I agree with Roger on this one. My buddy had an ugly low-sider on his F650GS. The front end was tweaked pretty good when it...
