Re: Considering The R1200R

I have been stuck in dreadful traffic around NYC last summer, and never once had a problem with either engine overheating or heating up my legs. Overall, this bike is among the safest and nicest to ride.

Re: Help with mirrors

Sorry, I can't figure out how to insert a picture in a reply. Otherwise I would post a picture. If you do a search in this forum on F800GS mirrors, you will a find a post with pictures.

Re: Help with mirrors

I had the F800GS mirrors installed this morning. What an improvement! Thanks again for the advice.

Re: Help with mirrors

Thank you all. I think I am going to go with the F800GS mirror idea. The thread is probably worn out from my trying to fix it too many times. Once again, this board saves the day! Thanks again.

Help with mirrors

Good evening everyone, I am going absolutely crazy with the r1200r mirrors: They always come loose after a while, they are impossible to adjust and tighten with these 3 bolts insane system. Are they any aftermarket parts including clamps, offering a much easier adjusting and tightening system? I had...

Re: 2009 R1200R seat too low

Hi Bruce, Does your 2010 2009 have the center stand? Were you able to preserve it with the Suburban lowering kit?

Re: 2009 R1200R seat too low

I have the same problem with my knees bent too much and becoming sore after riding more than one hour. I already have the standard seat and the high seat would be a $600 or expense. I have also seen this device http://www.suburban-machinery.com/R1200R1.htm which lowers the footpeg by about one inch,...

Re: My car gets better MPG than my R1200R

Your TDI ( a great car by the way) might be getting equivalent MPG as your R, but I doubt it gets to 60MPH in 4 second. You are comparing apples to oranges here, moreover, a naked bike will fight a significant drag compared to a low profile car. Plus the fact that it is air/oil cooled is not the mos...

Re: Soon new owner with some questions...:)

I am no expert on accessories but it has been my experience that BMW Motorrad feels no guilt over charging for its brand. As far as the bike, 4,000KM with the twin boxer means the engine is not even broken into. If you can find a used bike with low miles at a decent price, just go for it and spend t...

Got a 1600GTL as a loaner

Test rode the 1600GTL for a day as my R1200 was being serviced. Felt like I was driving a luxury car and the power from the 6 cylinder engine is out of this world. Accelerating in 6th gear gave me the same feeling as my R's 3rd gear. The bike is light and curiously nimble for a 800lbs machine. But i...

Re: nerve protection gloves?

The Quick gloves are OK but a bit thick. I suffered from the same problem, up to the point where I could not even hold a pen. My solutions were multiple: - as indicated above, grip puppies are great. They dampen vibrations and increase diameter, thereby relieving pressure on your hands' nerves. Grea...

Re: Hello all

Good evening good members, Has anyone purchased the wunderlich seat (http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorcycle/R1200R/8161188.html)? If yes, is there a noticeable improvement over the OEM seat? I am still trying to find a solution to my having to stop every hour because my tail bone hurts. Thanks ...

Hello all

HI Everyone, I am new to the board, totally newbie rider (actually I have now 974 miles under my belt...) and the 2009 White R1200R is my first bike ever. Still don't know much about riding (although BRC MSF training rocks), but I knew enough to place my trust and dollars in BMW engineering and the ...
