I would not be too concerned about tube type wheels if you do simple maintenance on them. Tube type wheels have been around since the beginning of bicycles and motorcycles. Patching a tube vs plugging a flat on the road side is all a matter of skill and perspective. As for running tubes in tubeless ...

I don't know about how rare there are, but the one I owned left a lot to be desired. Constantly in the shop trying to cure the surging problem, final drive seal leaks and at least for me uncomfortable ergonomics.
