Re: New R1150R owner
If I remember right someone said earlier it was a recall item or something of the sort. Dealership should have been able to take care of it for you but it looks like you've taken care of it.

Ask him how much he wants for it. I might be interested in black.jas wrote:Alpineswift - A friend removed the beak from his bike, if you would like I can ask him if he's interested in selling it at a decent price. The only problem would be that it is black.

Re: What seat do I have?
I have a Rick Mayer seat. It needs to be reupholstered though because the leather is wearing out and the padding is very firm. I'm 6'3" (no idea on the inseam) and its ok for maybe 100 miles or so. I figure when it gets redone it will be much nicer. Go custom if you can, find a local shop that ...

Re: First Bike Accident.
Welcome to the forum, Alpineswift! I was sorry to hear about your crash. Good thing you were going slow when it happened! Here's my parable about a similar incident... Within the first week of getting my bike home (I had to ride 750 miles to get it here :D ), I almost nailed the rear end of silver ...

Re: First Bike Accident.
Thanks for the invite. I just realized that you valve covers are black now. My entire driveline is blacked out. Yeah that's what I was trying to point out, how I managed to salvage the stock covers. Really? Interesting. I've never seen one with black underneath. I've seen posts on here for the valv...

Re: First Bike Accident.
Well she does not look too bad. Still a good looking machine. I am glad you were not hurt. Take care. Roger Thanks. I really appreciate it. I think the black enamel makes the cylinders pop a little better. I'll probably replace them down the road but for now this is fine. If you haven't already, dr...

Re: First Bike Accident.
Alpineswift, I was giving you advice that if you followed it may actually help prevent a similar accident. And do you remember SEE from the course?, you were not practicing it, so now I am acting like your instructor-sue me. That was an easy accident to avoid, the tough ones to avoid are the ones t...

Re: First Bike Accident.
I have had her about 6 months. I commute every day to work. Longest ride so far is about 200 miles. She is my 5th motorcycle. She is not as fast or powerful as the 750 3 cylinder two stroke I had previously and I am glad. That bike could have gotten me killed because I rode like an idiot and she wa...

Re: First Bike Accident.
Alright guys, some good news after today, SHES BACK HOME! Got some air in the system so they flushed it and added new fluid. They also discovered that the rear pinion seal was leaking fluid (previous owner said to keep an eye on it so I knew it was coming) so I had them replace that as wel...

First Bike Accident.
I know what you're thinking. "Already?" Yeah, I'm still shaking my head too wondering why this poo happened. Had an incident while riding today that caused me to need the bike towed to Foothills BMW. All I have to say is people suck at driving. Was behind some lady in a hyundai merging wit...

Seemed to stick for some reason. Just popped into my head while I was looking her over before I brought her home.Dr. Strangelove wrote:April ? I like it !

My E92 328Xi in Montego Blue is named Meadow so go figure.

Re: New R1150R owner
Yours is Piemont Red (as was mine) They didn't switch the red until 2004. Congrats on your new purchase. Congrats on the new bike. You'll love it. And, Chris, my Stella! is a 2004, April, and is the same color, though it is sometimes written Pie d mont Red John Thank you sir. I've run across a few ...

Re: New R1150R owner
Just did the muffler delete. Put on a custom made pipe that's pretty stubby but still angles the exhaust down and away from the bike. It's secured right now by the stock heatshield/clamp thing and doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. The pipe just barely slips over the stock pipe coming off the ca...

Re: New R1150R owner
I went to the local Harley dealer about 2 months prior to picking up April (yes I named my R). The prices on used Harley's (especially Softail's and Dyna's) has dropped significantly from what they were a year ago. I was quoted $10,000 out the door for a low mileage 2004 Deuce with stage 2 Screamin ...

Re: New R1150R owner
Thanks for the tips guys. I think I'm gonna take it in for an inspection just to see if the dealership notices anything. The guy that sold it to me seemed to know the problems area's for the bike and took care of them but it never hurts to double check.

Re: New R1150R owner
Thanks for the welcome. This particular bike doesn't have ABS which I'm very pleased with. I'll check into the tie wraps. Here's the one photo I managed to get after I realized I forgot to get one when I put it away. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs799.ash1/168910_492037022668_59...

New R1150R owner
Hi all. I'm Rob and I purchased a 2003 BMW R1150R today. The guy I bought it from said the official color name is Piemont Red Metallic but I noticed there is another color that looks almost the same. Any idea how I can figure out the difference? Bike has just over 64K miles on it. I picked it up for...
