Considering your low temps, sounds like a "simple" choke issue...But whatever it is, I would be very hesitant to run it over 3000 rpm cold.

Would you recommend a non-BMW oil filter?

For an engine oil change, any concerns using non-OEM oil filters such as Fram, WIX, or K&N?

Here is one web site that you can use.

http://www.walkabout.com/shop/size_glove.asp

I measured across, not around - 4 1/8 inches. So I ordered the 9 1/2 which Held also calls a L+ They fit perfectly.

I am seeing nothing but good reviews on the Held Steve gloves, but being on the NC coast we have that humidty which makes me wonder - are these more warm weather or cool weather gloves? They look thick enough to be too hot in the summer. Any thoughts? Just returned from an all-day trip - sunny, 85-...

Granted, I have never tried anything other than a stock seat and this corbin - but I can't imagine a better seat. This one is done in faux Ostrich leather, gray...looks a lot better than the examples on their web site. It's not very "cushy" - but it has room and I can ride for hours withou...

Just got the Held (Steve) gloves in...they are awesome! However, there is a little rubber strip that sticks out of the left index finger...on the seam between tan leather and the black. I see the same thing on the Held web site so I am wondering what this is for???

12,000 mile maintenance - DIY or Don't go there?!

I recently purchased an '02 R that's coming due for a 12k tune-up. What is on the schedule to be done? I usually do all of my maintenance on our vehicles so I am curious if this is something I can handle. It has ABS, so I was planning to let the dealer bleed the brakes. I guess I was thinking there ...

If it drives well, it's a no brainer. I paid more for my '02 with 10,000 miles and ABS.

The way I learned to attach a photo is by first putting the photo on a web site (our company has our own so I got the IT guys to do it for me!). Then type,

I have noticed the same thing, but not on every ride...I could'nt pin it down either, so I figured it was normal (bugs, road tar, etc.).

Checking clutch fluid level - Clymer or owner's manual?

To check clutch fluid level, Clymer Service Manual says to put the bike on the center stand and put the handlebars straight. The owner's manual says side stand and turn bars to the right. If I go with Clymer, my level is low. If I go with the owner's manual, the level is dead center. Which is it?

Re: Windshields

Hello fellow 1150R's... I have been reading many of the posts but this is my first reply. I have an '04 R1150R, and am planning a trip from NY to NV next May. I have several things I'm going to add (Throttlemiester, PIAA, etc), but the first thing I'd like to do is the windshield. When I bought my ...

Tires cupping! What's up with that?

Wow...I love the great feedback I get on this forum! Here's another one for you. Why are my tires cupping? I just got the bike a couple of weeks ago...tires have lots of tread. Pressure was about 5 lbs low on both tires when I bought it...don't know how long he rode it with low pressure or if that c...

Hey! if I was low budget, I would have bought a Yamaha! Who sticks to a budget anyway? The Kilmanjaro looks great, but I see two. The Air and the II Nylon. Can't tell which is "better". The Held gloves look perfect. As far as boots are concerned, besides the extra protection, are th...

Your favorite jacket and gloves?

I need to purchase a jacket and a pair of gloves and need advice from those who have been there, done that. I have been using a "bomber" jacket for the last month and I like the leather and tall collar, but it's not suitable for riding because it's too flappy. What really narrows my choice...

When I arrived home last night I shut it off for a few minutes and took off again down the drive...no problem. This morning, however, it failed again. I will try charging the battery during the night and see if that makes a difference. Thanks!
