Side/Centre Stand Springs
Any bright ideas on the best tool for refitting those springs without risking damage to knuckles and paintwork! I am dismantling to grease the pivots. Also the side stand pivot seems a bit slack (some up and down movement in lever)- is this normal and if not, is it likely to be the threaded pin (I h...

Comparison
I noticed an interesting extract from a comparative test in the German Motorrad magazine quoted in our BMW club journal this month. The test included BMW R1200r, Ducati Monster 1100, Harley Davidson XR1200X, Moto-Guzzi Griso 8V ansd Yamaha XJR1300. The figures tabulated (can't seem to reproduce a ta...

Re: Greetings and an introduction.
I would highly recommend the R- it's a really "handy" bike for its engine capacity, but in my experience it doesn't have to be all that costly, particularly if you can live without all the expensive BMW extras. I bought mine new (pre-registered with 0 miles on the clock) in May '09 for £7,...

Robert
The handguards incorporate their own bar-end weights to replace the OEM ones that you remove- there is no discernable difference in vibrations.

Yes, you just unscrew the original bar-end weights (and keep them somewhere you can find them again), and screw on the hanguards- 5 minute job!

Re: New - Acerbis Hand Guards for R1200R
Mort very kindly posted the pics of my bike with the Acerbis handguards fitted. As far as I am concerned, they certainly do the business- easy to fit, reasonable price and they keep the old hands out of the airstream giving me much more benefit from the heated grips.

Re: Fender or License Plate Extender
Nippy Normans here in the UK (http://www.nippynormans.com) list a "rear number plate extender" which looks like what you want at £39- although I don't know about carriage to where you are. They also list huggers at around £120 and front fender extenders at around £20 which I can recommend....
