Re: To ABS or not to ABS?
I would NEVER buy another bike without ABS. In europe all bikes being sold from 2017 on have to have ABS brakes. The R1200R with ABS is the shortest stopping bike period. Stops faster than even the hottest superbikes on the market who all don't have ABS except for the S1000RR and CBR1000RR. Todays A...

Re: I think she's still sexy!
You will like the LED signals. They are brighter and don't stick out as far. While you are at it,get the K1300S-LED taillight,too... Performance wise there is really no difference between the hc-and the dohc engines. The dohc have a little more bottom end torque off idle to 4000rpm,but that's i...

Roland the "new" one is nothing more than the old one with a little lip-stick... The new/old R1200GS/ST/S fork looks good, yes :!: You can save the extra expen$$$e for an aftermarket exhaust system because the stock one will already sound very good, better than most aftermarket systems :!: I...

Re: The new BMW R 1200 R. The new BMW R 1200 R Classic.
Actually the whire wheels with tubeless tires were an option for all R850/1100R bikes. Besides the classic good looks for a traditional bike like the R series Roadster BMW they have another big advantage.Especially on our detoriating and potholed riddled roads in the US of A you can ride more carefr...

Re: BMW High Seat
I think the BMW comfort seat is about as perfect as a motorcycle seat gets. Made in Italy where they understand the art of making beautiful things out of leather. Comfortable put still able to ride the bike in a active way, being able to move your but while most of those aftermarket "tractor-sea...

Re: Fair Purchase Price '09 1200R, 2100 miles
teachnsurf for a used R1200R without ABS $10K would be a fair price :!: Otherwise I would not buy a non ABS bike or especially a BMW. Without ABS it will be a "keeper",as in very tough to re-sell... You should be able to find a nice used ABS Bike with bags & computer for $12K or one of...

Re: The new BMW R 1200 R. The new BMW R 1200 R Classic.
"Old" vs new R1200R is a wash for me. Like I said I'm disappointed that they did not come out with a 2nd version with a half-fairing and lower handlebar or clip-ons.That would have been nice and would have caused me to trade in my 09 :!: Otherwise the differences are not that great; The ne...

Bob those are BMW production numbers for worldwide sales... The R sells pretty good in europe but poorly in the states. I hoped that the R would have had a second R/S version with half fairing and more forward seating position...but oh well life is full of disappointments... We will survive......

Re: 1200GS vs 1200R...highway riding question
If you put a Wunderlich S-fairing on the R you have much better wind protection than on the GS which gives you some buffeting since you sit so far away from the windshield (GS). If you have long legs the GS gives you a little bit more legroom. The high comfort seat makes the R comfortable enough wit...

New R1200R vs R1200R - Where is the new R1200R/S
Like we all knew the R1200R was getting the new camhead engine and a little make-up! For people who don't have a BMW Roadster yet for sure the best naked bike on the market if you can afford to spend the $$$... But as an already R1200R owner,I feel a little underwhelmed about the facelift. The instr...

That is the bar.It is a steel bar painted in the same finish as the R1200R triple clamp.
Works with stock clamps and BMW bar end weights.
You can get in from spieglerusa...

Re: New BMW R120CS - a dream come true...hopefully!
The R1200R gets the DOHC heads for 2011 and maybe a little like the RT got for 2010... The R120CS is a totally modern bike that has the timeless beautiful and iconic looks of the R90S...It would be build on a Megamoto frame looking more traditional or based on the R1200R with the telelever... 2 pipe...

Re: New BMW R120CS - a dream come true...hopefully!
For 2011 the R1200R is getting the DOHC heads and maybe little cosmetic changes a la 2010 vs 2009 R1200RT... The real question is if they come up with a second version with a fairing/lower bars as a R1200R/S to have a true sport-touring boxer again to replace R1100S/RS and R1200S/ST... :?: :!: The &...

Re: Lets talk tyres
Tires are like religion and politics... I was a firm believer in sport-touring tires like Z6,PR,Roadsmart and such. Until 3 weeks ago where I crashed because the tires let go without warning on a borrowed bike at around 85mph,at valve cover scraping lean angles I must admit... No I am not so s...

I don't know how to post the picture directly but you can see it and a text (in german) under; http://www.motorradonline.de/de/heft/artikelvorschau/studie-bmw-r-120-cs/280362 It was published in german Motorrad and drew an enthusiastic reaction. The best of both worlds.Modern like the R1200R with th...
