Re: How many fuel strips have you been through?

My fuel strip had to be replaced before I took delivery of the bike last July, then it failed again a couple weeks ago at around 11,000 miles. It will be replaced under warranty next week sometime (or whenever the art comes in - bike was in the shop last week for the 12K service and it hadn't come i...

Re: Bluetooth Capable comm system with bike to bike comm

Hmmm... I'll have to look at FRS/GMRS again. The only two people I knew that had sets hated them so I never gave them a second glance. As I said I normally only talk to my wife, but our daughter has been coming with us more frequently. Would be handy to loop her in too.

Re: Bluetooth Capable comm system with bike to bike comm

No such thing as squelch on bluetooth (and yeah, been there done that with CBs). Plus, since the bluetooth setup hooks into the cellphone, out of sight, no problem, I can still call her ;)

Re: Bluetooth Capable comm system with bike to bike comm

I'm a big fan of the Scala Rider Q2 system, but no bluetooth system is going to meet your requirements of 5 miles of range and more than 2 people communicating at once. Bluetooth is line of sight and 2 people at a time. For a group, your best bet will be CBs. I tried several different brands includi...

My wife and I rode to the top of Pikes Peak last summer - it's fine. She rode an F650GS and I rode my R12R. One of our friends was on a Harley - if he could make it, you can too ;) Here's a pic of my wife at the top. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_I0tj9JYjJFE/SooNhRSgDOI/AAAAAAAABQc/FZHdBs6w9m4/s640/P8170114...

I rarely touch my brakes going downhill in the mountains. Engine braking is more than adequate.

I can't complain at all about my experience. They got me right in, fixed me up and even put the repair through as a warranty item.

Oh, and if anyone is curious, it was 27.5 F at the summit of Vail Pass in Colorado yesterday at about 8am when I passed through... and 89 F at 6pm in St George, UT where I stopped for the night.

Re: Clutch problem

It's a closed system. Thanks for the replies guys. I stopped at Grand Junction Harley-Davidson who is also the local BMW dealership - very wild. My problem turned out to be a bubble in the line. No idea how it got there, but the tech bled the line, topped it up, tightened the connections and that cu...

Clutch problem

I'm on the way to California, in Colorado at the moment. Yesterday was cold and wet - 41 and raining mostly with the last 20 miles being 27 and snowing. I noticed my clutch being reluctant to disengage. Is this a cold weather issue or do I have deeper problems? The bike just came out of it's 6,000 s...

Re: Lowered Suspension - How do you like it?

I've got the factory lowered suspension. Yes, it was a bit harsh at first until I fiddled with the adjustment. It's set for the "ideal" BMW rider who weighs 180 pounds... I weigh about 40 more than that (round dwarfish like Don). Once I set the adjustment to something more realistic, it's ...

LOL - the luggage was back at our hotel room. Didn't see any need to put the panniers back on just to go over the pass.
