I would stop by an auto upholstery shop and get some 1" thick closed cell foam to pad the top of the GIVI and any other area there might be contact. I also have been happy with my ROK straps. Use them to keep the Kermit Chair and soft bags attached to the pillion seat.

Great looking bike. Well thought out and executed. Makes me want to get a 2nd R12 to customize like yours.

2010 and back have a constant and smaller diameter handlebar than the new R1200R. I used 3M body tape to fill in the gap where the brackets attach to the handlebar. No problems in 5k miles.

2 Jacks BMW Gone
My friend Tom and I took a summer tune up ride today. Pick 2 Jacks BMW in Wilkes Barre PA as the destination, hoping to check out the bikes and accessories. Great disappointment on arrival. For Sale sign on the property and show room cleaned out. If your traveling in North Eastern PA you will have t...

Re: Mudsling for wet roads
Roger L My bike was the development mule (Biarritz Blue R1200R in the add) for the MachineArt Moto Mudsling. I am very happy with mine. I ride with the BMW sidecases on all the time which helps keep the spray to the back part of the bike. There was a noticeable decrease in the water on the backs of ...

Try looking at the SHAD top cases. They are OEM supplier for the F800 bags so they are a good aesthetic match for the bike. Had the 40 ltr one on my R1150R and was very happy with the topcase.

Re: road hazard
Had an interesting encounter with a large swan after a Sunday breakfast ride on my old R1150R. Saw him ahead on the right side of the road so I slowed down in case he wanted to cross, he did so I came to a complete stop. He walks up to the bike and proceeds to beat up on the front tire and fender wi...

Nylife Sorry to hear about the loss of you friend. I to get extreme pleasure from riding and farkeling my bikes. I do not want to imagine life without riding, however infrequently I get out there. I'll be 68 this year and I get giddy looking forward to every ride and the people I will meet. Motorcyc...

I put the same pads on my bike mainly to prevent scuffs but did not use the center pad supplied in the R1200R kit as I did not like the way it fit with the factory tankbag. Found their universal center pad was much better. Have had them on the bike for 5k and very satisfied.

Re: Paint protector/cleaner/polisher
Another never, never, never use dish washing detergent or shampoo to wash cars or bikes. Both those products are formulated to remove oils and grease. Paint is a petroleum based product so you are sucking essential components out of the finish on your bike. Regular goat skin chamois remove wax from ...

Dewi I have both both BMW topboxes for my 2010 R1200R. I use the 49ltr for trips and the 28ltr close to home to put my helmet in. The 49ltr is loaded with first aid kit, rain gear, bike cover plus (the lid barely closes). The big one does change the handling a bit plus it puts the weight up high. As...

I transfered my Verholen (MV) risers from my R1150R to my R1200R. They do not fit perfectly and actually split the base of the of the right riser. They may work if you put a thin washer inside the riser. Otherwise nothing I had on the R1150R transfered to the R1200R.
