Re: Near fatal bike wreck
Sorry to hear about your son, i hope he will make a full recovery.
This guy - Tom McGrath - advertises a lot in Virginia, and has an office in NC as well http://www.motorcyclevirginia.com/home.aspx
Never had personal experience with his group, but at least he himself is a motorcyclist....

Re: Another windshield question
Hello, I am a very happy new owner of a R1200R. I'm enjoying the look of the sport windshield and also the resulting air in the face. However, for longer rides I think I'll need something to keep that wind a little more at bay. I'm looking at the tallest versions of either the Cee Bailey or the ZTe...

Re: To all the windshield Guru
I've got 3 windshields now, the BMW touring, 22" Parabellum and XL CalSci. I don't like any of them. The CalSci is especially horrible. I've been running around for about a month now with no windshield at all and like that the best. All of the windshields seem to concentrate the noise and buff...

Re: To all the windshield Guru
I guess my best solution would be to go with the tallest available (21") and then if I don't like it, start cutting it shorter and shorter. That's the paradox i learned on previous bikes - the taller shield does not necessarily provide the least buffeting. The reason i was asking here, I thoug...

Nova Scotia
Could not find anything on Nova Scotia here (guess wasn't looking well). I would very much appreciate advice specifically from the R1200R crowd... I am planning a trip to Nova Scotia in July (from Northern Virginia). Will only have 8 days for all, leaving Wednesday and returning the following Thursd...

Re: $350 rear tire?
After the OEM Metzelers bit the dust at 8900mi... I have Metzlers on my brand new R (too young to comment, though), and also had them for three years on my late LT. OK, I understand, the bikes are very different, but the LT crowd always put lot more psi's in tires than manufacturer-recommended whic...

Re: To all the windshield Guru
I'll give you my 2 cents worth as a new guy to the R1200R as well. I had a 21" V-Stream and the helmet buffett was crazy for me at about 6' and a 31' inseam. However my 5'6" friend took it for a spin and thought the shield was great. No buffett, quiet. I guess he was under the bad air. Is...

Re: To all the windshield Guru
So you are comparing oranges to oranges, exactly what do the ZTechnic measurements of 18" and 21" refer to? Top to bottom, height above triple tree, something else? Interesting that nobody has defined that. Also, when people refer to the "touring" windscreen, do they mean "...

Re: To all the windshield Guru
I am 6' with a 31" inseam and I love my BMW touring windscreen. I am comfortable at 80 mph with the wind hitting me in the chest. No buffeting. The only thing I'd trade it for would be something like the sail I had on my Harley--full coverage, no wind. That would defeat the purpose (and gorgeo...

Re: To all the windshield Guru
So what's the verdict - all ZTechnics are useless? :( Hi everybody, I'm new here coming from a tourers world (LT....). I will be an owner of a new R1200R next week, and my dealer agreed to absorb costs of a ZTech windshield - I must chose between 18.5 x 18.75 or 21.5 x 21 wide and respond very soon ...
