Re: Clutch spline failures - Let's get serious
Well, I only have 4000 miles on my 04, so I won't be much help with this. But, nothing works without money. How about starting a pay pal account where people like me could help out with some money. It's going to be needed at some point I'm quite sure. Seems like long term, it going to effect more pe...

Re: Y Pipe
Mine y pipe stayed on about two minutes. Got it new from a BMW online dealer, the right pipe hit the engine case, the rear pipe was too short and the stock muffler would not slide on far enough to cover the slots. So, I could either slide the muffler on and not be able to use the stock mount or the ...

Re: good first bike?
I also wouldn't recommend one as a first bike. Also, since you mentioned it, at 20 years old and making good money, I'd get a pilot's license, more fun, more practical, faster getting somewhere and will drain your wallet if that's what you are trying to do, a lot faster.

Re: Tail light Pictures
I have the LED lights on mine and I think they look stupid. I much rather have bought the strobe stop light bulb. Much brighter, flashes are much easier to notice, cleaner installation, no wiring modifications. Around the same price. YMMV

QUOTE "Firstly - the plugs will only fire on the Firing stroke, to fire the plug on the exhaust stroke would ignite unburnt fuel in the exhaust with the exhaust valve AND inlet valve open (If I remember correctly this is how most 4-stroke engines work - the inlet and exhaust opening overlap) : ...

It great to hear all your safety gear protected you, maybe others will see the benefit of always wearing it. Sorry to hear the bike is toast. But, it doesn't seem like it's a balls or brains thing to me. If you choose not to ride, good for you. It's not the end of the world. There are a multitude of...

Sometimes I think I own a different bike then everyone else here. Mine has never burnt oil (4500 miles). I check the oil every couple of months, or more, it is always in the center of the sight glass, before I ride, right after I stop and almost any time I look at it. I never do all the toe tapping ...

Buy the best trailer you can afford, better if it used, you'll see why. Look for square tubing construction instead of angle iron. Avoid tail gate ramps (puts too much stress on the trailer). Most of the trailer companies now, don't seem to interested in building a quality product. So, plan on upgra...

Well, if they are anything like the BMW dealer in Tucson.... they'd have to notice or say something to you before they could throw you out. I went in there three times and no one even acknowledged my presence. So much for buying a new one from them. I bought a like new R1150R from a guy in Indiana o...

Is it just me? I don't see the point of getting a naked bike and then putting all this ah....stuff on it to make it something else. I thought that's what the RT or some of the other models were best at. It kind of reminds me of the old street scramblers, that were neither best on the street or off r...

It doesn't matter what you have serviced. A person with a little knowledge and a lot of desire (the owner) will always out perform a person with a lot of knowledge and little desire (service tech). It just a fact I have learned and accepted for years. I never go back to the dealer for anything servi...

There seems to be a lot of worry on rear end collision. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation prints in their manual that only 3% of motorcycle collisions are rear enders. The previous owner of my R has put on larger K mirrors and four of those flashing lights alot of people have on their license plate b...

60,000 people a year are killed on the highways in the US. If you don't think you will see someone dead on the highways in your travels I'm not sure what to say. People are killed doing everyday tasks, even bathing. Sure it could have been you or me or someone we know that will die in a tragic accid...

When I bought mine, it was the same deal. I had a cashier's check made out for the exact pay off to BMW Finance and the rest in cash. The guy just had to send the check to BMW. One week later I got the title. I actually like these deals. Most people don't like them so, it easier to deal with the guy...
