Re: Got a 1600GTL as a loaner

I had a R1200R, then a RT and now have a K1600GT...First off I loved both my previous bikes and the boxer motor etc. but the K1600GT is the absolute bomb, the handling at both low and high speed is fantastic. It's extremely smooth even at low speeds (Unlike the boxer can be) and the acceleration is ...

Re: Some sport screen testing...

Had a long chat yesterday with Mark of California Science windscreens; he believes the turbulence on the r1200r's comes from below....up from above the knees. He found NO WAY to block that air. That's what fairings do. So yeah the air has to go all the way over your head. Barn door screen or some c...

Re: The new BMW R 1200 R. The new BMW R 1200 R Classic.

Methinks more evolution than revolution. Nice refinements (shorter exhaust, new seat contour, new instrument cluster, small grab rails), but don't see anything that obsoletes the current R1200R. New motor - ho hum (1 extra hp). The "classic" does not appeal to me. No matter how much I try...

Re: The new BMW R 1200 R. The new BMW R 1200 R Classic.

Having just recently traded in my 2007 R1200R for a 2011 R1200RT I can tell you I love the new "camhead" motor, you can feel a difference. I love both the Red and Black/White classic and if I was made of money like Don I would own 2 bikes! By the way the new 2011 Rt is fantastic, take one ...

Re: BMWMOA Redmund Rally

Just got back from the Rally, Wife on her 650 twin me on the R. We rode from Seattle down the coasts of Washington and Oregon, swung on over to Crater lake and then to the Rally. The weather was Hot in Redmond but we rode in the morning from our Hotel in Bend to Mt. Bachelor and there had to be 2-30...

Re: OT - Zumo 660 and Scale G4

I have the G4 and Zumo 660 and it works as has been described. The charger goes to a 110V outlet, not sure how long it will run in intercom mode but I think you could go most of the day like that. I'll find out next week as the wife and I travel from Seattle down the Oregon coast and then over to th...

Re: Got LOW Comfort seat..

Don, your stock low seat...do you want to sell it? How much lower is it than the standard seat (I ask cause my wife may want to ride my 1200r once in a while but she's to short (29" inseam) for the standard seat.

Re: Flat tire

Even better having a tire plug kit with you at all times, won't help in all senarios (sidewall problems) but in 20-30 minutes you can plug a tire and be back on the road.

Re: BMW Comfort Saddle or Corbin Follow-up

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds kind of a wash. The opinion on Corbin is about 50/50. The BMW seat has 1 vote for, and none against, but only one tester. I am leaning towards the BMW seat. Expensive, but seems to be a sure thing. Next question is high or low? I currently have the stock low seat and...

Re: BMW Comfort Saddle or Corbin Follow-up

I broke down and ordered the 800mm (Low, but really standard height) comfort saddle from Max BMW. They have to order from Germany so it will be a week or so but I am looking forward to it. I have a local guy in Seattle (Rich's custom seats) who did my wife's and did a good job (F650 twin) but I like...

I may end up going to Rich's also, my wife likes her Rich's custom seat on her F650 and I seem ok on my stock seat but how will I know what I am missing until I get a new one :)

Re: 1st attempt at a DIY seat mod - abject failure :(

Well, I'm on the waiting list for a custom foam reshaping at Rich's in Seattle, but it's not until June, and my @ss hurts NOW. So I thought to myself "maybe I'll just do a little pre-emptive shaping to tide me over". Some things I learned: 1) be careful prying the staples out, or you'll s...

Now just switch over your levers to a set of Pazzos and your all set ;) Like your cases also, they look like they could withstand a bomb blast! Thanks Dave! I need to get the fancy GPS thingy too, but just can't bring myself to do it. Do you feel the upgraded levers were worth the cost? I'm really ...

Re: Did anyone ever buy the Wudo ---- fairing?

Just in time for some great weather, I finally pulled the trigger on the Wudo fairing. Just as Doug said, you have to drill the holes for the shield and the hardware that did come with it to attach the shield to the fiberglass was crap. First ride with it was this morning and it did not disappoint....
