Re: Best place to sell my 2010 R1200R?
I don't think there is such thing as the best place to sell. In my opinion, it is just a matter of price. I find you have to be aggressive on pricing if you want to sell quickly. Unfortunately, that means taking a big hit. I just traded my 2009 GS with 5100 kilometers on it (that's 3200 miles). I go...

Re: Shoei X-11 and RF-1000
I wear Arai's. I've had two RX7. One saved my head and life in a 50 mph crash. Didn't loose conciousness. A good helmet is a very good investment. Go for the best you can afford, and then some.

Farklers, do you miss your naked R?
I used to own a 2006 GS and a 2007 R. The GS was fully farkled for touring and the R was almost stock for pure riding enjoyment. I crashed and totaled the GS. This left me with only the R in the garage. Now I must decide whether I will farkle the R for touring. I would need to add at least side case...

Dirt and gravel road
Anyone has extensive experience riding the R on dirt and gravel roadS. Is it possible to instal knobbies on the stock rims. Would the R be suitable for dirt and gravel roads in Alaska and the YukOn?
Thanks

Re: R1200RT vs. R1200R
If you're thinking of changing, try the GS as well. I am lucky I can have two bikes. I tried the RT and although I really wanted it to be the bike for me, I think the GS is more fun and more versatile. The protection is less but in summer I want less protection when it's warm. As others have said, t...

Re: OK, I'm a "Chicken"
It's sad for you. I just bought an R to complement my GS. I have 17000 kms on my GS and 2500 kms on my R. So far so good. I am not worried about potential failures. It is what it is. If it happens, I'll deal with it. Now, I am not impressed with BMW's after-sales service. That is another sorry.

Re: Riding suits
I won't try to answer all your questions but I'll give you my opinion on it. I am in my third season with the one-piece Stich RC. I find it better and more convenient the more I wear it. I like the one-piece because it is all there as someone else said and it is easy to put on and off in seconds. I ...

Is it me? Need help!
I need your help to determine if I am just getting old and grumpie or whether I have reason to be pissed-off by my dealer. The events are as follows: 1. I buy a GS from the dealer - no problem 2. I take the GS for its 1000 kms service - no problem 3. I take the GS for its 10000 kms service - When I ...

Alternatives to motolight
I would like to add a set of aux lights to my R1200R. This would be mostly for other people to see me better as opposed to additional lights for night riding. I'm thinking motolight but would like to avoid the caliper mounts, if possible. Anyone has tried something else that has worked well. I don't...

R1200R vs R1200GS
I currently own both a GS and an R. The R is the newer bike in the garage. I find the R a lot smoother and more refined than the GS. It is snappier from 1st gear. It seems to have a lot more torque when I change gear. I need to really ease off the clutch and lean forward otherwise I feel like I will...

Re: Does this offend you??
I think it is in very bad taste and understand why some people may find it offensive. If it could be found only under a specific post, I would say it doesn't matter. However, since we have to look at it every time you post a reply, I say it is better to remove it. There are so many pictures of nice ...

New to me, 2007
I'm scheduled to pick up my 2007 R1200R this week, weather permitting here in Toronto. It is an Exec Demo with 1000 miles on it. Bought it in November, waited all winter for this. Just washed my Aerostich, will get my gear out of storage and I'll be ready to go. Wish you all a wonderful riding seaso...

Hi There are times when I wonder whether i am just burning fuel and polluting the environment. These are just momentary lapses of sanity. All other times, I feel good being on the bike and just ride. There are no obligations to ride. This is supposed to be fun. Maybe the best thing you could do is s...

BTW - year round riding is certainly doable in much of the US.. it takes some heated gear and the urge to ride. Oddly enough, the issue in Toronto, canada is not the snow nor the cold. Even when it snows, we get the odd rain shower that washes the snow away from the street. The problem is salt. As ...

Just did it, new (to me) 2007 R1200R
Well, yesterday, I put a deposit on a 2007 R1200R, BMW Exec Demo. The bike has 1500 kms on it, in service since september 28, 2007. It comes with ABS, ESA, Sport shield, heated grips, center stand, luggage bracket. It will stay at the dealer during the winter. When I pick it up in the Spring, it wil...

Just heard back from my dealer, the Canadian $ price for the 2008 R1200R is reduced by $1,500 plus, currently, a $500 cash back. That would lower the price to $14,000 compared to $12,620. This is assuming US dealers do not include incentives. However, the Canadian bike comes with heated grips, weath...

2008 R1200R price
Anyone has heard anything about the price of the 2008 R1200R in the US. I am Canadian. My dealer tells me that the price of bikes in US will increase in 2008 to reflect the lower US $. It is the new tactic to keep us Canadian from buying in US. However, with the CDN$ now worth 1.10USD, it is very te...

Re: I HATE the R12GS
I hate the fact that my desire, and determination to own a K12R, is slowly being swayed by pretty red R12GS at my local dealership. Damn you BMW.... Damn you!!!!! Not to yank your chain but I own a 2006 R1200GS and I can attest that it is a great bike. I am looking at buying a 2007 R1200R because t...
