Georgia Club Ride to Cedar Key Florida

Postby Boxer » Fri Feb 26, 2010 12:12 pm

The pics are all in the slideshow. We left before dawn on Friday morning in about 28Fdegree temps. Bundled up with heated gear working!

A married couple rode separate from us but joined us in activities and meals once down there. There were 5 of us who left the MacDonalds at 8:30 that morning. One of our group, on his old R65 Airhead, peeled off from us once we got down into south GA, and had other business to attend to in Jacksonville, FL.

We made it to Cedar Key about 4:30 I believe. Spent Saturday and then rode back north in beautiful 70s temps all the way to Atlanta.

Another great slide show, Phil.

Some people would say that was a long way to ride for just a weekend.

Yet others ride 300 miles just for lunch. :D

Nice Phil - Looks like you got to do and see a lot in just one day there. I lived along the Suwannee River for a couple of years, but never got down to Cedar Key. Looks like a nice place to visit. What was the temp change from the time you left to the time you arrived at Cedar Key?

It was 28Fdegrees at 6:30 when I pulled out of my driveway. After assembling south of Atlanta and departing that location it was 8:30AM and just above freezing. By the time we got to south Georgia and into Florida it had increased to about 68 then started dropping again as we neared the coastline on the west side of Florida. When we got there at about 4:30PM it was around 45, give or take a few. Saturday it got up into the mid to high 70s. Very nice.
