I noticed a few weeks ago some oil seepage from the rear rubber boot, between the diff and the boot.It seemed fairly dry, so I wiped it off. Today had a boo and it was worse.. far wetter then previous... My question, how concerned should I be?... and any easy remedies. ( I think it might just be the cable tie that they use to secure the boot).. but I could be wrong.

Have you recently changed the oil in either transmission or final drive? possibly filled either up too much?
The boot is not designed to seal against oil, and there shouldn't be any oil on the inside of it anyway (its not a zip-tie problem). The oil is coming from one of two places...the final drive or the transmission (dripping from the trans, inside the swinging arm, to the boot). This is a common thing (just a leaky seal).
If you pull the boot back (cut and replace zip-ties), you will see where it is coming from.
It will most likely be the final drive.
Most people will just keep wiping the oil off and keep an eye on the oil level (by opening up the filler hole occasionally), and eventually it will stop on its own. Many people had a leak like that stop on its own. If it doesn't stop, replacing the seal is not all that horribly expensive (I guess that depends on the dealership).

Yes... I changed both final drive and gearbox fluids about 3000 kms ago... I dont recall over filling... However.. I will keep an eye on it, and wont be worried about it... thanks for the excellent reply.... cheers.

Place bike on center stand, remove the fill plug on both the tranny and the FD and verify that the oil level is just below the fill hole, not up to the threads, remove any excess oil.
What you are experiencing is the typical weep of lip seals as the are designed to seal against splash, no direct contact (they do wear in due time), clean and ride on.

Without cutting the big ziptie, you can slip the rubber accordion boot off the FD casting with just your fingers. There are two sections where there isn't any retaining ridge where it will slide off, and back on again, with the same factory ziptie still there. That allows you to clean out the small oil puddle and see where it's coming from.
In almost 68,000 miles, mine never leaked any oil anywhere, but I was able to remove and reinstall the boot with the same ziptie when it came apart for the spline regreasing service. Give yours a try . . . .

Ive experienced exactly the same thing this weekend on my 16000 mile 04 R1150R following a 250 mile run out. Ive had the bike a few weeks and the previous owner advised that he had changed the final drive oil about 1K back. Again it was fairly dry, my first thought was it was brake dust. If it is an overfill prob will the boot need cleaning out?
